LOL $100 HDDVD! Bargainous compared to the $500-700 stand alone drives Is it a USB attachment then?

As soon as the Sega cataloge comes alive, Im investing in a 360 it seems. Although, wasnt the Revolution ALSO having the Sega back catalouge?

The price drop is awesome.

Ninty are gettin the Sega back catalogue, what may happen is that Ninty will have a server farm with all the games on their back catalogue and segas on it and just allow people to access certain ones.

The price drop seems great, so I might invest then when some more games for it come out aswell not to mention the Sega catalogue.

Yeah USB.

Although personally I would prefer to exchange it for the internal one as it's very noisy!

If its USB, is there a chance of using it with a pc? That would be really popular. Eyetoys work with pcs, so maybe...

Yea! HDDVD for PC! I bet it'll just be using an IDE to USB adapter too, so just rip it apart and you have an internal drive. When are they releasing HDDVD drives for PCs?

Hmmm...the idea of the Sega back catalogue really does sway me a tiny bit. What appeals to me most about the Revolution is the concept of having hundreds of old games to access and download, but if the 360's gonna do this as well _and_ become slightly more affordable, I'm gonna be stuck in a dilemna!

Revolution will still be cheap as, so I'll prob get both.

I wanna see if there's gonna be a new revision that comes out at the current price with HDDVD in it already.

I don't forsee Microsoft releasing a revision of the 360 with a built in HD-DVD drive as current 360 owners would bitch over it since they'd have to have an add-on. Unless Microsoft were to offer a "send in your 360 and we'll swap out the drives for you for free" type of deal. Hell, people are already bitching over the fact that there are some Samsung drives in some 360s and Hitachi drives in other 360s.

Fifth: They've also planned an agreement with IBM to start manufacturing the system's CPU in 65nm SOI. How great is that? It would mean an end to the huge heat output, high power consumption, and effectively it generating less noise! Yay ! They may as well integrate this HD-DVD drive with the console's new revised version.
THEN, I'm sure you'll all be tempted to buy one, when you look at the price cut as well, and so will I.

Add to the fact that if HD-DVD doesn't win the format wars, Microsoft would have released a 'media centre' style console with the equivalent of a betamax player inside it. It'll be interesting to see what the outcome of it is really- I personally had my money on blu-ray before but it's looking more like HD-DVD could win the race. Either way, it was a sensible idea not to jump in and take risks with a format that could have flopped in the future.

They'll never integrate it because then they cant charge $100 to use it as an add-on.

I mean that they price drop the "standard" DVD edition to $299, but do a "HD-DVD" edition for say $380, I wouldn't want to see an extra little drive by my X360 on a media centre.

They can to the people who wouldn't want to buy the new Xbox 360.

I was thinking something along those lines. If nothing else, it'll be hacked insanely fast to work, and you can bet that DVD Jon will have AACS dealt with in a couple weeks of that happening (if he hasn't started already - I dunno how he would unless he's a soldering god)
