Holy sweet jesus I want three.

Seriously though, RAM is almost always the bottleneck of an amazing overclock. Good to see that RAM manufacturers are always stepping up, trying to catch up to the enthusiast community.

this is PC2-xxxxx ram though, DDR2 ram can go very high, and 10000 is the best currently achieved

Hmm... I can't seem to find any PC2-xxxxx references in the article nor the everest and cpu-z scores... But I do find this (in cpuz):

Quote:
Module 0 Corsair DDR2 PC6400 - 1024 MBytes
Module 1 Corsair DDR2 PC6400 - 1024 MBytes
So, who's wrong?

well its gonna require a pretty serious overclock to get up to PC10000 speeds, some people call it DDR2 PC-xxxx, and some call it PC2-xxxx so whatever floats your boat

I'm fine if they call it DDR2 PC-xxxxx or PC2-xxxxx, but that doesn't answer my questions (and the JEDEC website is quite locked down to registered members)
  • How far does the PC-xxxx standard go?
  • How far does the PC2-xxxxx standard go then?
Wiki does list PC up to 3200 and PC2 to 6400... And IIRC the maximum defined in the JEDEC standard for DDR ram was 3200 (which Wiki lists as the highest value)... But what about PC4000 and the likes then?

But, at first I tought that Corsair had this memory fabricated as PC2-10000, but it seems it's PC2-6400 overclocked to (theoretical) PC2-10000 speeds.

i believe the standard ones for PC-xxxx were 2100, 2700 and 3200, PC4000 being a custom one thats made for overclocking (as you dont reach the PC4000 speeds unless you overclock)
Im not sure that you have to stick by the standards, if you go over, aslong as its backwards compatible then it shouldnt matter
Im not an expert, so maybe somone who is can give a better answer

You do reach PC4000 bus speeds in P4 systems IIRC... So it's not made for overclocking...
