fortunetly ive not had any problems with my copy of oblivion, with berthasofts current history, im suprised their not charging for the patch

The problem is that they've alienated a lot of their fanbase by releasing the $2 add-ons before a patch. They've clearly put money before user experiences, and that isn't ever a good thing to do.

I can't get it running very smoothly at all, even at 640x480 the framerate is 10-30... Check sig for specs...

tyr - dunno what your doing wrong, on medium settings my 6800GT could get ~40fps at 1680x1050

truely the most annoy things ever, i know somone who downloaded the fear patch 3 times - all the wrong region

I just left it on the autodetected Ultra High and also tried the new Low and Very Low settings. I don't think it likes mobile GPUs for some reason... even if it is the same as any other G70...

Grass and Trees cause a bit of slowdown, but NPCs completely kill the machine :S

That or you've managed to disable hardware acceleation, or something else equally silly. It ran fine on my MBP when I had it installed via Bootcamp - 1440x960 HDR was at least decently playable on its underclocked x1600.

I haven't patched up only because I rather like abusing the duping bug once I've gotten bored. Shame it doesn't work for those damned nirnroots.

Completely off topic but is it only me that thinks of Goatse when i look at the pic in the article, especially with the finger-like streaks of fire either side?

Okay hit me up on Private messages, I have Oblivion running well on 800x600 with GeForce FX5500 -crappy card($35 after rebate from newegg)

Agreed, im suprised someone hasnt bought the add-ons then posted them on a mod site or anything?

Thats worrying, I play at 800x600 with bloom, AAx4 and the sliders up to full and I get a very good frame rate. If I were you just back up your work and do a format, its the easy way out thats for sure but the chances are that it'll probably work! Other than that, make sure your using the latest drivers, directx blah blah and shut down any programs your running in the background that you dont need.

I tell you on bug thats really pissing me off in oblivion, the "random items disappearing" bug! I dropped a load of stuff into a chest in the enchanting room at the arcane uni, then when I came back later on it had all gone!! Wouldn't have been so bothered if it was common stuff, but it was all the items I got doing the daedra quests!!

Chemo: Stuff will get removed from crates if its not in your property/rooms. So if you leave it too long someone will thieve it from you.

I have to restart Oblivion next week, reformatted to remove all the traces of the evil gumpf used for my ICAs and forgot to backup :|

My machine is brand new, formated uppon recieving it. I've seen 7800GTs with non-standard clocks in the same problem. OCing these a bit more causes Oblivion to not run... I can't understand what is going on as my brother's:

AMD Athlon XP 1900+ 1.6GHz
512MB DDR266
X1600Pro 4xAGP

All runs fine on High settings, HDR at 1024x768...
Maybe it is just 7800s that are not too happy with OB, anyone else got a 7800?

Items don't dissapear as a bug... They get stolen by NPCs LOL. The only safe place to store stuff is in a bought house!

The addons were all going to be part of the original game and were developed at the same time. It is annoying that you have to pay for such minor pieces of work! Especially since there have been screenshots of them for ages and it was touted as part of the original game!

Ok i've just had a REALLY wierd problem with the patch!! I downloaded the patch and installed it, I noticed my machine was running extremely slowly, it took about 3 mins to log into windows :S after that I decided to have a game of bf2 (no expansions and latest 1.3 patch) I logged on found a server, it took about 30 secs to retrieve the data that shows whos playing and there score etc and when i tried to connect it crashed the comp totally! No bsod, no quit to desktop just a solid freeze. Tried it a few times, same thing.

Logged on a fourth time, alt-tabbed to windows to see if my connection was working, and it wasnt! So I quit out of bf2 but the connect was still dead. Uninstalled oblivion, and the internet works fine, and bf2 is working again!

So what the hell is going on?

Too late!

I burned out on Oblivion about three or four days back, after roughly 45 hours recorded in my save and another five outside it. And that's not counting nearly double the time spent looking for mods.

Hey, hope this isn't too late. First off, I'm new here.

Anyway, I downloaded the patch and started installing, then I got an error while it was installing, telling me a file wasn't found, but a file with the same name but different content was found. Then it closed, taking the patch with it. "Ok" I thought, "I'll just try playing the unpatched game some more" But whenever I load up my save, it immediately crashes to desktop. I'm sure it's to do with the half-finished patch. This is very frustrating, as it was a good (my best) character. Can anyone help?

I figured this would be the right place to ask, if not, then move it wherever.
