to be honest, 2 x GX2 and a OCed conroe is probubly gonna me unstoppable and cost around £1,800 Which sets it to be a huge breakthrough in performance / price

Looking good!! IMHO I don't know if it will be able to outperform the AM2. Not in gaming anyway...but you never know.

Let the benchmarks do thier job!!!!

I'm looking forward to seeing how the final silicon does.

Onboard RAID 5 and JBOD seems like a really bad idea..

I do hope they do something about the colour of the PCB - it's revolting. It looks like something you would find when you take apart your stereo, IMHO.

nice looking board, but its not like theyve really done much over the AMD version, the feature set is practically the same, i guess all they need to change is the memory controller and proccesor communications bits and they could otherwise plonk in the AMD version ...

I've not seen a reference board yet that wasn't green.

I quite like the colour, actually.

Do they have to? I'm not sure the AMD camp would take it well if the Intel version of the same chipset got a massive upgrade, and I doubt the Intel camp would like it if features were stripped out.

The colour of the PCB isnt the bad thing, its everything else... the neon green nvidia southbridge fan, the black and blue memory RAM slots, and the bright red, yellow and black leads to the northbridge heatsink fan... it all looks quite ugly but the Quad 2x GX2 boards is a great rig set up and you'll be able to use water cooling unlike the panther setup from scan.co.uk... right?

They were announced on the same day. AMD boards had immediate availability and the Intel boards are waiting for Core 2 Duo. However, I was expecting to see something other than just reference samples on show.

Hi Guyz

For my first post I have the pleasure of giving you the heads up comparison stats via my hotmail post from

1. Hardware Analysis’s Sander Sassen http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/article/1833.2/ after also reading the link in Gizomdo.com to the

2. Tech Report article here http://techreport.com/reviews/2006q3.../index.x?pg=18

So as you can see it’s no contest, Intel = 1, AMD = 0

Fortunately for me as I’ve just returned two Abit Fatality AN9 SLi mobo’s due to bios, ram issues Abit are sorting now. Seems the didn’t bother to reply to OCZ request for a reference mobo before releasing the mobo.
So I’m free to sit on my hands until for the love of humanity they release an Intel based 590 nforce chipset mobo for my nVidia 7950, who wants a baby brother or sister soon for a quad family happy-ever-after ending.

Any news will keep me from going insane after 7 months of hell with my last Abit Fatality AN8 mobo [don’t worry it’s just my bad luck], so just tell me the article from Computex Taipei 2006 isn’t a fake, LOL.

PS. Just noticed the ad from ebuyer, the best online retailer since year.com. After 7 months of putting up with my issues on the AN8 mobo whilst dealing direct with Abit, I chanced my hand with the retailer I bought from, ebuyer. It was painless to the point of being laughable, after just 5mins to customer service and a refund was agreed, no hassle. What a company, just a same they don't do high end kit until it goes mainstream.

Thankz Optical10

Does anybody know when Nforce 590 for Intel will be available? I'm guessing it will be next week some time (week commencing 24-Jul-2006)... There are a lot of websites selling the Core 2 CPU's now, but there are no good motherboards to put it in to. Conroe X6800 and 2x 7950GX2 is the ultimate combination as of this day... When will it be a possibility for the rest of us?

hello azcn2503

after emailing every Tom Dick and Harry all last week only DFI

confirm a Nforce 590 for Intel mobo in August! but I suppose

being an nobody they wouldn't tell me . my friggin 7950GX2 is

frustrated as model Sophie Anderton on celebrity love Island

with only half an hours love action on the disastrous Abit

fatality AN9 mobo. So I'm like you, cash waiting, no Nforce 590

for Intel mobo's. I'm thinking of going the Intel D975XBX [Bad

Axe] mobo route for a couple of months due to it being well

established rather than sufferings being an early adopter like

on the Abit fatality AN9 mobo.

ebuyer got five X6800 today, should be on the system tomorrow

and other retailers like scan.co.uk have that many back orders

only the low end 6300's seem to be available.

I think I might wait a couple of weeks AMD have slashed a third

of AM2 CPU's [other than the FX stop end obviously] a long

waiting for the e6700 [currently at between £359.94 to £411.19]

to match the AMD AM2 4600 Dual Core Which is dropped from £394

to £173, [will we can only hope, LOL], anyone care to throw in

their two penneth?

cheerz optical10

PS. please can I use my new shiny avatar - i promise you'll like it.

New info found

This is a quote from a similar thread at TR Forums http://techreport.com/forums/viewtop...r=asc&start=30

Quote:
With all the buzz surrounding the Intel Core 2 Duo, NVIDIA's Bryan Del Rizzo passed along the following information in regards to nForce4 and nForce 500 support.
We are really excited about the introduction of Intel Core 2 Duo into the marketplace, and we have a whole top-to-bottom family of products from the NVIDIA nForce4 and NVIDIA nForce 500 families, including the industry's only true dual x16 PCIe solution, as well as support for NVIDIA QuadSLI.

Currently, the first product shipping with support for Intel Core 2 Duo will be the ASUS P5N32-SLI SE motherboard. This motherboard is based on the award-winning NVIDIA nForce4 SLI X16 MCP and should be available around 7/27.

In addition, many system builders are using this motherboard for their first Intel Core 2 Duo systems. We will have a press release later this month outlining all of the global system builders for NVIDIA nForce products.

There are an assortment of NVIDIA nForce 500-based motherboards coming. They include:

An ECS 570 SLI motherboard that will have a retail price of only $90 USD!

An ASUS 570 SLI motherboard that will have a retail price of only $110 USD.

A DFI nForce 590 SLI motherboard. I don't know their retail price yet.

An ASUS 590 SLI motherboard. Retail price will be under $200 USD with availability around 8/1.
