heh, Google are copying eBay's products with things like GBuy and now it looks like eBay is copying some of Google's ideas! I wonder who will copy what next

My experience (maybe not everyone's) is that the eBay links in Google ads are typically to general categories of auctions, or at best to a search... which makes sense, since eBay would have to buy a block of adverts for a specific URL. Perhaps this is a result of getting UK ads rather than US/Global ones...
The advantage of a "home-grown" eBay advertising system would be that eBay could actually direct you to specific autions that are relevent, with much more dynamic linking - so rather than seeing a link to a page containing 1000 different car auctions, you might get a link to a search that shows the specific model of Dodge Viper you were reading about...

Something tells me that unless this runs off of a auction comission (say, 50/50 split of eBay's winning fees), it'll be a monumental failure - nobody would put it on their sites. I suppose if buyers are given a "list this on eBayAds" checkbox for whatever amount, it could work, but I'd imagine that'd be very unreliable.
