It's quite funny: all the talk about Duke Nukem Forever, but Prey was announced before the original Max Payne!

Fluctuating, 370 down to 290.
Stupid overloaded servers, I want my 500K down. EDIT: Found a ttorrent for it. Seems to be a little slower than the gamershell ones, going about 200K for me. http://torrentspy.com/torrent/769777/Prey_Demo

well on my 3.2 gig p4 with 1 gig of memory and a 6800ultra it has everything on and runs smoothly at 1024x768.
The game looks bloody good (even if a little shiny) and the gameplay is brilliant - nice puzzles, crazy gravity and entertaining weapons. I'm most impressed. It's original and it's fun and creative. The portals make your head spin even if it wasn't from the changing gravity. I want this game. In the demo that took about an hour to complete, I was amazed, confused, sickened, confused and entertained thoroughly. |

I thought it was crap. Here's why:
Running on the ceiling was cool in AvP, but in this it's actually pretty dull. The rotating gravity and so on, yeah that's kind of fun, but ultimately what a first person shooter demands above all is, well, shootering. To be fair to it the baddies were completely generic, I mean these boys couldn't have less character if they tried. Aliens were slaughtering the human race and I just didn't give a ****. The Doom 3 engine also doesn't look good for fighting in, not compared to FEAR which is the current yardstick, and once again the AI is absolutely non existent. Triggered baddies running/shooting at you. Not seen that in every FPS since Wolfenstein have we? The weapons I found weren't great. One was the machinegun from Quake 4 retextured as some sort of Alien thingy, not that impressive. The other froze baddies, which was quite cool. The wrench was dire, it really didn't feel like it had any weight or strength behind it at all and the stupid bug grenades things were complete toss. Also the plot and character, yeah I'll give them points for -some- originality by using the native American mythos, but holy crap, native American kid with wise old grandfather and a pet hawk? Does it get any more cornball than that? Really disappointed to be honest. Graphically there's nothing to it that couldn't have been done two years ago. Playability wise there's nothing here that couldn't have been done six years ago. |

Seeing as all your talking about is innovation, and your playing an fps, your playing the wrong game man. Mr. 3 posts.

I think they should have released it with 1996 graphics. Retro ***. Would have saved a lot of cash and been out a lot faster as well as been more acceptible as a storyline.

I'll give it a try after Italy or Czech Rep. got kicked out of WC.
I'm aware it might not be as good as many expected it to be but I hope it's as good as I expect it to be. If it's not, well... 45 minutes of download for nothing, not that bad though.

I thought it was pretty good, apart from the fact that widescreen mode didn't seem to work.
1024x768 with all settings high is smooth. There are some good puzzles as well, the whole gravity changing thing was pretty cool and the spirit thing is quite good sometimes. Not dieing is also good. The game does look a tad dated, but some of the shader effects are good. The AI is utter shite though.

well i actually kinda enjoyed that
ran a little choppy with all the things on max, didnt have the latest audigy drivers for EAX though so that was turned off waepons were abit meh, but i kinda like the wierd walking upside down and shooting the pads to change gravity. i even made him puke lol. but ill agree, the bad guys arent particularly hard or clever and they loook a tad boring. i think the story is good though, i was definately into it. graphics wise, well it doesnt matter if the game play is good, i think i can see myself playing through this fully. Doom3 is old hat now, still got some nice looking graphics, but low res/flat textures do rear their heads at times, its not too bad though ran it full settings, 1280x1024, 4xaa and 16xAF with all the Nvidia optimisations off. it was playable. the music rocked

Very enjoyable. Some very good ideas in there, though at first it seemed like they just did it for the sake of a gimmik, it made combat alot more interesting and made for some cool puzzles. I think i'll be getting this game when it comes out. Looks like it has alot of potential to be a good loud, back to basics quake style FPS, with a few little fun additions.
