Times New Roman was like an old friend. I liked that font...

Still, being able to test out Office 2007 online is quite a nice idea...

They aren't removing TNR, they're just replacing it as the default. You can easily change it back again if you so wish.

I've been waiting in the queue to try it out online for ages... only another 168 minutes to go! I have actually downloaded and installed the beta, but I wanted to show some people at work what 2007 looks like.

I've got the beta and I'll probably pick it up when it's released, as it really is easier to use and things make more sense in where they are placed on the ribbon.

alot of people still use Ariel as their default font instead of TNR ..... i cant say MS trying to force new standards is going to win them any favours in my view - interesting beta testing system, i wonder if their servers can handle it

Arial*

If people don't like the default font... they can change it! They aren't forcing anything. Microsoft have just realised that Times New Roman is very dated and since they've spent a ton of cash getting some brand new fonts made up that look great on screen, and look pretty good printed too, they've decided to use them instead. It would look pretty rubbish if they'd used TNR as the default on 2007 IMO, after changing the entire interface.

I did put the little smiley in for a reason.

It's just that I only ever seem to use three fonts: Courier New, Times New Roman and Papyrus.

Open Office now and forever for me! There is no way I'm going back to using MS Office, even if I can borrow the disc from someone.

I haven't checked OO.o for a while - have they sorted out the page positioning issue? (I hesitate to call it a problem as some people may like it off to one side...) That was the only thing that stopped me from using it...

If that doesn't remind me of the Microsoft iPod Packaging video, I don't know what does.

hahahaha well it is only a beta (or in MS's case, an alpha (they never really release stable versions of products do they ...))
