That's pretty lame. Hackers generally "stick it to the man" not to the decent people doing lots of hard work for free. Poor show

Maybe they found a security hole, and figured the fastest way to get it patched is to hack something.

Showing them is more effective altough, The linux community is the only one that can release bugfixes 14 hours after the bug was found

OT: Lame, very Lame... If they find the one that did this, DDOS all the way

It was MS trying to stick it to the competition. (half-joke). These people should be hung, drawn and quartered (repeatedly)!

If this was a hack against MS then you'd be laughing at the poor quality of MS servers but when it happens to Linux its all "these people should be hung." Surely hacking a few gifted amateur's sites doesn't cost TOO much money, where as hacking microsoft.com and taking it down along with MSN etc for a period of time would cost MS millions. Hacking is bad all the time not just when against linux groups.

Although I never agree with this kind of cracking, I think it's good that people have shown that Linux (or any other non microsoft OS) isn't as totally secure as the /. types try to tell you!

The question I'm asking, and all of you are, is why? Why would you want, need, do something like this? Though I am beginning to sound like I'm on the edge of a breakdown, but it just baffles me why someone would want to hit a site that provides an alternative to Windows and OSX and that is a free and reliable for those who want it, and its not being forced on them....

Quite strange really, but I guess thats the mind of a hacker...
But perhaps they were trying to "hit them with a sledgehammer" to get them to notice security holes and perhaps they believed that this was a way to tell the developers, "its not perfect" guess we may never know...

Noone will ever say Linux is uncrack/hack-able... You know, there even are virii for Linux systems... But compare Linux to Windows and you must agree that Linux is a couple of leagues above Windows.

Urm theres no way for you to know that, no hackers etc. target linux so it will apear more secure, if linux had 90% of the market or whatever windows holds, would linux still be leagues above windows?

Hakers always seem to be one step ahead.

Woo hoo, 100th post.
