Hmm. Nice. It really is going to need to be cheaper than the purchaseable hard DVD's from the shops/internet though.

This would be nice, but i doubt there is going to be much of a saving. Also i wounder what method of download will they distribute them by, with sp2 limiting connections p2p would take alot longer, but direct download would cost too much for them in bandwith.

A good idea would do a deal with an ISP with a package with so many music or film credits, and as its with an isp they can get arround distibuting it.

I have used sky by broadband and its a good idea but the quality is still lacking, its not as if there is a problem with high speed connections anymore.

Why do all the big name companies take so long to adapt to the internet? If had this technology at a similar time as iTunes took off maybe RIAA would be out of business.

Still, better late than never.

What would be great though, if you can buy the original DVD and your allowed 1 download of the same movie for a backup.
It's still good that they are planning for this though

i cant see the price being such that it will demand people to do it. maybe a few quid at most, which tbh id rather pay for a full retail printed DVD and case etc.

I hate to bang on about it, but above all else the quality for me has to be indistinguishable from retail.

Some people may deem this unrealistic, but if I am expected to pay the same price, then I expect it to be of the same quality.

Another interesting issue is how many copies you will be allowed to burn. The way I see it, if you're only allowed to burn one copy, it costs about the same as retail, the quality is lower and you have to wait for two days to finish downloading it, you might as well get retail (or pirate). Good idea, though. Can't wait to see how they will implement it.
