D'oh! How on earth did they manage to forget to test it on an SD TV?

Exactly - that's stupidity at the highest level. It's on par with a developer testing a new PC game, on only an FX-62/Quad SLi, then releasing it to find that it wont run on anything lower.

Surely all the testers couldn't have had HDTVs? If so, why didn't one of them mention it???

You have to either have a big pair or be really dumb to say that in this circumstance. The obviously botched the testing phase, but now they're bragging about how extensivly tested it was

At least in the uk most 360's are plugged in to a SD tv's this is a grave error.

Well I guess since this seems a highly anticipated game, it might just pursuade more people into getting a HDTV, thus increasing penetration. High def is the future. But it is short sighted, and hopefully will get fixed.

HD is the future of television but right now it's a small minority of sets in Europe. It's like developing a game that can only be used on holographic tv sets.

I found it hard to read the objectives in GRAW on my sdtv. The writing is so small.

the writing is small.. thats mainly subtitles - so unless you are deaf it'll be no problem at all.
was slightly hard to read in the Demo but it's certainly not a show stopper of any kind.

Pretty much thinking they tested it on SDTV and decided 'it'll be fine'.

I myslef have a SDTV and am considering getting a 360 for this game but this bit of news doesn't bode well, I could always attach it to one of my monitors instead I suppose untill it's fixed.

Speaking as somone who owns a 360 and dead rising i speak from experience. The subtitles you speak of are (as you say) legible but small. the problem lies when you talk to people in game or receive info via your walkie talkie (this dosent occur in the demo so you wont have seen it). Its not impossible to read (but it is damn hard to read quickly while trying to avoid a horde of ravenous zombies). id say its missing just that little bit of resolution to make it legible that PAL tvs may just have. Hopefully theyll quickly release an update for this and check to see if its an issue on PAL tv's (which i suspect it dosent and im guessing they tested on PAL too and didnt realise that ntsc and pal would cause a huge diffrence).

My 2 cents and questions on queries about the issue ask away ill try and answer them as a first hand user

I played it on my friends crappy SDTV, and it was hard to read the text. You have to focus to be able to read it. It's not impossible to play, but is definitely an inexcusable oversight by Capcom.

I wonder just how many people will see this and go "All I have is SDTV and since the new Xbox doesn't like it I'll just buy that Nintendo thingy"?

Its hard to read on an hdtv, the problem is that it is just too small. The game on the other hand is great, minus the saves deal. I was planning on playing it through multiple times anyway so it doesn't bother me too much.
