Thats very sad news, I would love a 24/26" screen with 2560x1600, my 2405fpw is far to blocky compared to my old CRT which had .22 dot pitch, means I have to rely on AA in some case when I rather not as I like stuff sharp.

Any word on pricing on the 26" model? I'm looking at a 2407WFP in the next 6 months, but I could be tempted to go to a 26"

Bah I find the dot pitch on my 24" Dell too high, I was hoping for 3840x2400 on a 30" screen. In fact I probably won't buy another screen until some manufacturer gets off their arse and produces one

Whilst new monitors are good, I don't exactly see what these NEC screens bring to the market?

IBM used to make a 22" lcd with a res of 3840x2400 but its abit on the expensive side.

The T221 and derivatives were aimed at the static imaging market rather than normal users. I may complain about the dot pitch on my Dell 2405FPW at 100dpi (ish), but even I baulk at the 204dpi on the T221 without a true scalable OS GUI.

Other issues include the 50ms response time and with four DVI inputs it could still only manage to refresh at 48Hz. This does not make for an ideal monitor for usage that includes game playing and video watching.

No what we need is a 32" screen capable of 3840x2400 yielding a quite reasonable 145-150dpi, it should be LED backlit, feature a low response time and crucially a Universal Display Interface (UDI) connector. That would use 13.2GBit/s (60fps * 24bpp * 3840 * 2400) out of UDIs initial bandwidth of 16GBit/s and it would require dual-link UDI (if such a thing can exist) to allow for 10-bit colour.

Unfortunately there is also Displayport that appears to have the majority backing despite being the weaker of the two standards with a maximum bandwidth of 10.6GBit/s. Great a standard that is already outdated before it ever hits the market.

If you're gonna so a write up on those monitors, can you please compare the GX2 Pro to the Dell 207WFP? I'm somewhat interested in the newer, cheaper dell.

I remember your review of the Nec GX2 20'' widescreen and it swayed me to settle for the NEC 19'' 4:3 Multisync 90GX2 (with 4ms) model.

It is probably safe to say I have missed out on HDCP, but at £258.00 I am pleased to say was cheap, and does a nice 1280x 1024 @ 60hz optimally, and is fine in gaming, has all the stuff that make the widescreen 20'' version desirable, like the glossy film finish on the screen.

Is this the sort of LED backlight like Brightside Tech. designed...or is it just LED's replacing the cold cathode on the edge/edges of a typical LCD panel?

I see nothing too special about what they have except the 26". I still am on the fence about the 24" crt or lcd widescreen, If it wasnt for the fact that mt current CRT takes up half the space in my truck when I go to a lan I would get another crt without a second thought. LCDs look just a little too blocky for my eyes.

That is, IMHO, a big thing holding back LCD resolutions. Most of the 17" LCDs I see are running at 1024x768 because the fonts get too small at native resolution and Windows scales Very poorly (& very inconsistantly).
