PS3 shipments are a 'target', not a guarantee

Not that its making any difference anymore. Sony know that they can screw people over and they will come running. And I get to play on the PS3 this year in the UK.

Even the 500,000 number is rubbish, that was simply to say 'we have more than the Xbox 360 at launch...'

Now that's not even going to happen.

If they had forgot about Blu-Ray and launched the PS3 at the same time as the Xbox 360 for a similar price, the PS3 sales would have destroyed Microsoft.

But once again Sony want their 'loyal consumer base' to be the supporters of another proprietary format.

Microsoft despite all their critics were first to market and have created a console that is a worthy competitor to the PS3.

Problems with the Blu-ray drive manufacturing are to blame for the shortages, as the drive begins to look more and more like the system's achilles heel rather than its match-winning advantage.
This it seems is becomming more and more true, what else has actually kept the system back?

Another day, another Sony news story.

Almost all of their recent statements are either over exaggerated marketing hype, or bare-faced lies. They obviously don’t think much of the general public if they assume they can constantly feed us bull****, and expect us to believe it.
Where exactly is the honour, respect and loyalty that normally resides within a Japanese company? When did Sony become so Western?!
I know it’s not in their best interest to actually admit they’re having problems but still, why the need to sugar coat everything?

If it’s recommended to take their comments with a grain of salt then currently that’s one hell-of-a-lot of salt!

it isn't a proprietry format you nitwit, more tech firms and studios support BR than HDDVD, and the porn industry is most lkely going to swing that way - that will end the arguments between the 2 in about a month.

I'd say that Sony's gone and shot themselves in the foot again, but with the number of times they've done that already, they've gotta have no feet left to shoot. My money's on them having shot themselves in a certain area that means this is the last generation.

I wish someone would aggregate all the news articles about Sony's screw-ups into one thread we just keep adding on to and then every toime some Sony fanboi says "This is all just Sony-bashing we can just shove the link down their throat.
