About the numbers: MS will wait 3-6 months to see how well PS3 + games sell and then say whether the numbers are good or not IMO.

About the game: Haven't played it yet but it looks and sounds more than interesting. Wanted to give Roboblitz a try to see how UE 3.0 'performs' (>3 fps or not ) on my system... PhysX required? Hmkaaay.

On the internet, for every person who loves halo theres soemone who hates it, so theres quite a few.

TBH I'm a bit weary of this one, people have made it out to be the must buy amazing FPS (well TPS), I've heard the single player levels just get boring and samey after a while but the multiplayer is meant to be really good.

Really want to play a demo but they're not planning on making one.

I can whole heartedly recommend this game, I was one of the few who remained slightly skeptical about Gears of War until I finally played it. Playing single player over co-op is one of the greatest experiences I have ever had in gaming.

I thought it was impossible for a game to meet the amount of hype it had received (Halo 2 anyone?), but I can state it most definitely does.

If there is one game that defines this new generation of consoles, you have to play Gears of War.

That's the sign of a great game, not only will it sell systems it will introduce users to parts of the Live facility that they had never used before, it's a win win for Microsoft

I might pick it up then if it's that good.

Is the co-op playable over live? Thats one of the things halo 2 missed that I'd really like to see.

2142 is the shooter of choice for me right now though, damn that unlock and award system, it's got me hooked!

It is indeed over Live, and it's so smooth it feels like system link!

One thing that comes to mind when I see pictures of this game is a phrase that used to be jokingly thrown out about space marine seargeants "We're so hard we don't need a helmet!" anybody else get that ? or is there some in-game explanation I'm missing for giving them massive armour on there bodies and nothing but a cap on there heads ?

Co-op is wicked fun. I played for over 3 hours with my friends girlfriend and we both had a great time. However, I can definitely see how the game can get pretty repetitive. It's got a lot going for it to make those repetetive moments fun though.

Didn't Xbox Live add around 900K new users after Gears of War was released?

edit: I see there was a 2 day trial, that probably explains this.
