Small laptop on a budget

Hey all, due to the lack of response regarding my stepnote thread i'm going to search for a different laptop. When i return from my holiday im planning on getting a new laptop but need some recommendations! The key factors i'm looking for are!:
  1. Light weight (I push bike to work)
  2. at least 2 hours battery life
  3. higher resolution than 1024 x 768
  4. 1.5ghz + speed wise
  5. ram upgradable up 2 1gig (can be anything below)
  6. any size screen between 10inch - 15inch

the cheaper the better btw

I'm generally not a fan of HP, but I think they've got lower prices than anyone else for cheap, general-purpose laptops. They've got quite a few computers for £399 with either a Celeron M (A Pentium M with half the cache, so very respectable) or a Sempron (also quite respectable). Of course, if you can find the one pranks7er mentioned you'd be even better off.

I'd agree in regard to their desktop systems, maybe... but I've bought/passed on two HP laptops to my sons (a 17" Pavilion ZD8228EA + a 15.4" Pavilion DV6231), and they're absolutely cracking laptops in my opinion

Before anybody asks... the only reason they've been passed on, is 'coz I've not long bought a new, more powerful/more up-to-date laptop... from Evesham
Unfortunately... HP didn't do one with the specs I wanted, at a price I was willing to pay, else I'd have had another one without question

@ L2wis: "... cheaper the better" isn't enough info to enable us to make suitable recommendations?
We need to know the most you're willing to spend... or a ball-park figure at the very least - i.e. £250 - £400 / £350 - £500 etc?

If you can't find a HP laptop within your budget (which would be a shame)... I'd suggest you have a browse of laptop specialist sites - such as Laptops Direct, Laptop Shop, Laptop Superstore, Laptop Stuff, Laptop Bits etc
