PDA/cell phone question
I've been thinking about getting a PDA for a while and I have a question. One thing I'd like to do is connect my cell phone and PDA together via bluetooth, then use the PDA "as the phone". If the PDA has bluetooth, speaker(s) and a microphone, is this possible? If so, does anyone have any recommendations for a PDA (or if you just have recommendations anyway, regardless if this is possible)?
Thanks guys.

Why don't you take a look at the Nokia internet tablets. im not sure if they can be used to control the phone via bluetooth, but i know that they can use the phone as a 3G or dialup network card to get internet anywhere (if there is no wifi) I highly recommend them. there are three models the 770 (outdated) N800 (current model) and the N810 (to be released next month)
But then again, there not really Personal Digital Assistants, more like the internet in your pocket.

Seconded on the HTC comment, i've been using HTC devices for about 5years and i highly recommend them.

If you want a PDA and a phone, makes sense to get both in one unit, as it costs nearly nothing for manufacturers in cost/size/weight to add phone functionality into a PDA ![]() *if the wind is blowing in the right direction and you're wearing your lucky hat |

Well, since the whole "pda as a headset thingy" idea is a no go, I think I'll end up getting just a PDA. I don't want a smartphone because I know I'll hate having something that big at all times and well, just personal preference - I'd like them to be two separate devices.
mrlanrat, those nokia tablets look very nice, especially since they're linux-based. Supposedly there's an updated version coming out soon, so I shall have to keep an eye out for it.

Definitely HTC!
Pairing PDA's and phones is too much hard work. I used to do it a few years ago. Now I have an HTC P3300 (phone, wifi, bluetooth, gprs, gps ...) and it's great having a single device with everything packed in. I also use it for music with my bluetooth stereo headphones which also take calls. If you're not worried about having a gps in your phone take a look at the HTC Touch Dual - http://www.europe.htc.com/en/products/htctouchdual.html - I think it looks great and you can't say that any of the HTC smartphones are big. My P3300 is one of the smallest pda's I've owned. |
