oh god help me i screwed something up bad :(

I was hooking up my xbox 360 to my monitor and i was told in my other thread that if i bridge the connections of my wireless connection i was using and the connection for the ethernet (for the xbox), i could use my computers wireless connection to connect to xbox live (saves me having to buy the wireless adapter!)

Thing is, it didnt work, it bridged the connection but my internet stopped working, and nor the xbox or my pc could connect. So i thought fine, i deleted the bridge that was created.

From this point on i havnt been able to get back onto the internet! i have no idea whats happened here, everything seems normal i think but i have been trying to connect and it just wont. It connects to my wireless router but just wont connect to the internet? Whats going on! I have even tried to reformat the whole computer and all i usually have to do is select my router signal from the wireless ones and voila, it usually works but it still doesnt! im very frustrated and concerned now

I think some setting has been altered but what? has anyone got any advice or able to help because im in need of help badly

update!

ok one thing to another - I thing i identified the problem, it seems like when you connect to a network for the first time- you need to choose the settings like "home" or public or something - How do i bring up this screen for my setting? I made my wireless unsecure and then tried to connect and my internet worked! then i went back and changed my settings to password so you need a password and my computer then said "the settings dont match this network" and wont let me connect! how do i connect or change the settings? it wont let me!

Ok i believe iv identified the problem but im unsure how to handle it the next time. Basically when connecting to a network for the first time, vista asks you the network type. I set it at home demonstrated in this pic:

how do i alter that? notice the house symbol for my network, how do i alter the network type? so say i wanted to make it public? i ask this because if i try connect my xbox again and i have the same problem - i would like to know a better way of fixing it, like just re-selecting the network :S

god i hope people can understand what im getting at
