I don't reckon the wiimote needs third party as much as some. Some 3rd party PS3 controllers, for example, would be nice - maybe something approaching the thumbstick design/layout of the 360.

I really hope they do do a third party Ps3 controller because I find them really uncomfortable. when I get a PS3 and a game I want is on both the Ps3 and 360, then ill get the 360 version purely for the 360 controller and achievments.

Nintendo are making alot of money with their controller and with the sales increasing on Wii's themself. People are wanting 1, 2 or 3 extra remotes for the multiplayer family games, therefore I dont think nintendo will allow 3rd party for some time yet. Thats because they would loose a huge chunk of money to 3rd party sales.

When sales start to slip, is when I reckon they will let 3rd partys have a licence to sell theirs.

They don't need to milk it anymore though, they're already doing amazingly well for themselves with the wii
The dual-shock layout was good on the ps2, because it was predominantly sports and 3rd person games. But 1st person? Not happening. Apart from the position, I find it especially troublesome that the sticks are convex, you can't get a good grip on them.

i dont think their is any

Plus Wii probably gets quite a bit from hardware sales
