While I think that it's obvious that you're putting some thought into the composition of your photos, I feel that they could definitely use some post-processing. They look like they took more thought than a simple snapshot, but the washed out colors make them feel... incomplete.
I hope you don't mind, but I ran the 1st photo through CaptureNX and then added a vignette in CS3, here's what I ended up with(took about 4 minutes): ![]() (If you have any objections, contact me and I'll remove it)

Ya I thought so, I miss the homeland
I used to live pretty close from them, in fact you could see my flat from the Union Building.

![]() Thanks! I'll drop them in PS and see what I can accomplish Oh wow! That's awesome! South Africa is going backwards pretty fast, I wouldn't advise any one to come stay here, but for a vacation.. This country is DAMN beautiful.

Yeah I love SA. I spent 19 years growing up there.
I really really miss it, I haven't been back since 1999 ![]() Hope it starts improving in the near future, I'd love to have a second home there

@ Major: I wasn't asking whether they were shot this month.@WiK1d: I was asking because the exposure/PP didn't really tell when I looked at the originals I think for something to fit the theme it needs to well fit it and if they were shot during that time then Bob's your uncle.I think the 2nd of the two is the best as it's most warm. I applaud that you as well want to submit something that actually fits the theme with an understanding of it. It seems to me like the theme has been hard for most to interpret or elaborate on so seeing you posting this is cool

![]() But they were shot late afternoon-ish, winter is arriving in SA so the sun sets earlier, you can see that from the long shadows
