GTS250
Woah much better PPD than my 8800GTX
How is this possible? I though they were basically the same spec :/ Within 1:30mins I had done a 1349 point unit :O Might have to get me another one of these. WoW Edition ofc Excellent fan on it.

So what is your PPD?
What clocks you running?

Nice, why not clock it up a bit?
Try 750 or something, try and break the 6k barrier

Overclocking a gpu is very simple.
Just use something like msi afterburner: http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm Monitor temps etc, leave voltage alone to begin with, Up core, mem and shaders, keeping temps in line by upping the fanspeed or whatever. And watch your PPD increase ![]() Just go for a while until it crashes, then back it down a bit Far more simple than cpu overclocking

For a safer overclock (voltage auto-adjusted to some extent) you can use Nvidia System Tools, from Nvidia themselves. Note: this tool, like any other overclock tool doesn't keep your warranty if found out by the manufacture (ie: you tell them).
http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia_...ools_6.06.html The difference is that MSI AfterBurner (which is actually RivaTuner with a skin), can perform some crazy level of overclock and essentially forcing "un-safe" voltage levels to reach such crazy overclock. While Nvidia System tools doesn't allow you to do this, but then it's less likely to break your GPU or have unstable results (voltage auto-adjusted based on your specs and graphic card)

You have to manually adjust the voltages in afteburner, so you're in no danger if you leave them alone

Unlike Fermi cards the GTS 250 shader clock can be moved independently of the core. My understanding (I may be wrong!) is that shader speed is the critical element for FAH points increase.
Also the shader clock will only actually increase in units of 54MHz regardless of what you enter. My OC MSI 250GTS Twin Frozer is running reliably with the shader @ 1836MHz (reduced from 1890MHz which was very occassionally unstable).
