Other Nintendo 3DS (Worth it?)

Hello all,

Payday is just a week away

And I need something to spend some moneys on.. I've always been looking at the Nintendo 3DS and just wondered "Is it worth it?"

I loved LOZ: Ocarina of Time, and all the other classics released on it..So theres no doubt theres good games out on it..

Is there anyone else here who owns it?

Aha! Pink is my favourite colour!

I do have a DS and I want Pokemon Black and White (Sorry, it was a massive game during my childhood and I just can't grow out of it...)

But I also want Zelda, and my old DS is sort of dead...(Its the first DS and had it since release date!..)

I never use my 3DS. Zelda was great but I never play it anymore, had a go of MGS3 and the controls were horrid. I'm thinking of selling mine as I never use it.

Save your money bro! Just swapped mine and £100 and got a vita, never played a handheld console so much.

I ditched my 3DS after about a week, despite Ocarina of Time. The 3D is just a waste of time, as it means you literally can't move whilst playing, hence any accelerometer use is out of the question. It's still low resolution, poor performance.

Picked up a Vita, and boy is that the one to buy.

3ds is based basically on if you need to wear glasses or contact lenses

if so dont buy one the 3d effect is just plane wrong

if you dont wear em then it can be a decent purchase but it still makes your eyes soar far quicker than any console really should

I have had a 3ds since release and no issues and i love the 3d effect, looking forward to kid icarus coming tomorrow.

All you can do is go try one out and see if you like it.

Where did you get that deal? I have a really hardly ever used shiny red 3DS here (and a PSP-1003 with a load of games) and I'd love a PSVita for cheap.

I have a 3DS and enjoy it. There's no doubt that it'll have (and has) good games on it, but there are some things to consider:

The screen quality is garbage by today's standards. The 3D is very cool, but the quality of the screen itself is quite bad. After using a droid charge (SuperAMOLED+ Screen) for over a year, the 3DS screen pales in comparison.

The 3D could cause eye-strain. Playing Resident Evil Revelations with the 3D cranked up for about 3 minutes made my eyes strain and ache and caused me some pretty serious nausea for hours and hours. Super Mario Land 3D does the same, though less intense and not every time, so I usually just play with 3D all the way off.

Not every game requires or even benefits from having 3D on at all, but then you start to question why you own the thing to begin with. For me, there are a lot of first and second party nintendo games that I want to play, so it works for me, but if that's not something that bothers you, you might be better off with a Vita.

My suggestion is to go to a store and try to play around with one and see what happens with your eyes.

And yes, I like to play Pokemon too, and I'm 27 years old

I'm playing Pokemon Black through..."other" methods at the moment...

Gotta say it is actually pretty good..
