Asus ROG Maximus V Formula vs EVGA Z77 FTW
With Ivybridge just around the corner, I suspect I will be in the market for a Z77 board (most likely one of the two in the thread title). I know neither of these boards are currently available, but thought I would see what other people who are intending to switch to Z77 were thinking.
As I'm sure other people on this forum will have greater knowledge of these upcoming boards than I do, it would be nice if you could also post reasons behind your decision, for the benefit of myself and others. Cheers.

I'm intending to buy the Asus P8Z77-V Pro. Looks like it has all the features I would need and the two you have mentioned would be out of my price range. Of those two though I would pick the Asus, not sure Evga is what it use to be?

I have to say, I am leaning towards the Asus board myself. The general consensus seems to be that EVGA are not as impressive as they once were. Also I have had a hassle free time with the Maximus IV. I guess the proof will be in the pudding.

Personally I'm going for a M5F, but for you I'd say neither. You're running SB as it is, you'll see very little benifit to going IB. For me it'll be a massive step up!

Yes you are right and I always tell myself that I won't upgrade in these situations. However, I like to keep with the times, so upgrading is somewhat inevitable.

So skip a series. You'll loose nothing and save a fortune...

I went Lower end Gigabyte. (As I always seem to do to be honest, Asus just don't do it for me anymore). The P8Z77-V LX might be £6 cheaper but it looks awful and, like the MSI doesn't come close to matching on spec.
Does everything I need/want and more. And it has right angled sata ports which equivalent Asus boards don't, and the equivalent MSI board looks no where near as good IMO and doesn't come close to matching on spec. No brainer for me!

Yeah but well, and then there's the, but with the...
Oh whatever .EDIT: Does anyone know why there are no benchmarks? Would've expected some up on launch day, definitely a week after it!

If it was my choice, I'd go with the ASUS board but then I might be slightly biased now
