If there is anything I have learnt in the last couple of months, don't bother drawing conclusions until the product is actually released and we get a review from people like bit tech etc.

Sometimes I just find it hard to take you guys seriously.
![]() I once drilled a large hole in my waterblock. What was the thread about again? Will I be buying ivy's bridge? No, I not at this time. I hope to keep my i5k until next year at least. |

Yeh same here, can't see any need to change from my 2500k anytime soon.
Any performance increase isn't going to be noticable for what I do. ....blacked out swimming goggles that's the answer.... |

Definitely sticking with my 2500K! There are a few nice little features that come with the Z77 chipset but nothing worth upgrading too IF these high temps prove to be true

ooo overclocking might be a challenge again! I started off in the days of the K6-II and Athlon XP's when overclocking actually ment something and the industry was dumb to the idea. In the last 10 years the components industry has exploited the enthusiast market for Overclocking as a pure marketing sector, with golden editions and marking CPU's as know unlocked multipliers such as the FX series, Black edition and K.
I agree with the few here that this is an ES sample, most likely pushing more volts than actually required for operation..

The result i seen so far mean that you similar temperatures when you are at 200-300MHz lower clock compared to Sandy Bridge CPU (means 4.9GHz Sandy Bridge equals 4.7GHz Ivy Bridge), which brings about the same performance too. So while Ivy Bridge looks bad for high overclockers (4.4GHz+), for people using standard BIOS overclocks or at stock speed Ivy Bridge should be just fine.
