I have really liked the changes in the mag on the whole, glad I renewed my sub. £20 for 6 issues is fine

I agree with some the Mag isn't what it used to be, I miss how it used to be when Gareth Ogden was editor, (no offence James) Every page seemed to be worth a read. Now in my opinion some pages just seem to be a hole to fill (I will use the heaven and hell bit at the end they had for a while) and I just tend to flick through for about 20 mins then it goes on the pile.
I would like to see some more in depth reviews of things relating to Computer enthusiasts, I think there's huge scope for an Auduino sections etc. Also there is a load more adverts now which is an annoyance...

got issue 105 here. its okay still, not what i wanted, but better than the issue with the ssd reviews (i have three ssd builds, but don't want to make any more - its a bit too muck like updating linux -- backup/format/reinstall for me). the modding and overclocking was wrth the price imo. i wouldn't use the phone stuff irregardless. we have stinger/spybubble and all other sorts of privacy violations going on over here -- stores are tracking their customers via customers' cellphones now.

I must admit the folding section is of no interest to me whatsoever. Maybe a once a year article would be nice.
Trouble is you are caught between a rock and a hard place, continual reviews of equipment would be boring esp if it did not result in any changes to recommendations but off topic pieces really are, well erm off topic. Government snooping? leave that to the Guardian please. Game gets 10% rating, don't spend two pages on it, just spend two lines telling us it's crap. Agreed the "how to" sections are good. I doubt i would ever have the skills to perform most of them but they are relevant. Showing us modded projects is all very well but many of us lack the skills to get anywhere near that project. Just my two penneth worth. |

Actually I think this is quite relevant, was good to read from a less biased publication.

I buy retail at £4.50 per issue. I must get round to subscribing as it is so much cheaper. It is still cheaper than the other mags I buy - PC Gamer and PC format are both £5.99 and I suspect the subscription price is the same.

I buy them on iPad for £2.99 per issue and feel the price/content/delivery mechanism are just about right for my own tastes. Would I pay £5 for a dead tree version? Nope.

I've noticed that as well as the size changing the number of pages seems to be shrinking as well.

Well, sadly that's because CPC has suffered a massive investment reduction. All costs have been stripped to the bone, whoever it is who now owns this magazine wants more profit, and more profit now. Quality be ****ed. Content be ****ed. Dumb everything down to the lowest comment denominiator. I'm pissed fed up and angry with it. So I have no option but to terminate my subscription with extreme vengeance. The problems are so many, but look: Typos so bad graphs and texts can be rendered unintelligible, gross technical errors and igonorance, incultured bias towards nv, intel,; group tests that test so few items as to be worthless; the new columns are asinine, inaccurate, boring, or a combination thereof. Pomposity in the reviewers - endlessly repeating the same predicatable bias, the same factually inaccurate statement, untill finally; just occasionally the evidence to the contrary becomes so overwhelming that the big fat heads present on these pages flips an opinion. But never will an admission of error, a reversal of opinion be admitted too. Everything will go on blindly as before, trust us! Trust our reviews! Our sagacity and unfaltering independence will guide you well! My ****ing ass.
I've been reading CPC since issue2. Subscribed since the second year. What a ****ing stupid waste of paper this magazine has become. How Sad. Goodbye cruel magazine world. |

![]() Maybe you and the magazine have grown apart? I find it amusing and yet mildly tragic that someone could be so upset and vitriolic towards a magazine they have chosen to buy, rather than just electing not to buy it.

I'll address what issues I can here. Re: 'predictable bias' - we printed a driver update this month that basically said "wow, AMD's new driver really levels the GPU playing field" two years ago we caught huge flak for smashing the 480, then the same flak for approving the 680. Bias is something we get accused of a great deal, and it's NEVER applicable. We recommend the gear we'd use. Simple as that. Columns - Rather than get angry, which in particular do you dislike? What about them do you find asinine? I personally think having a mobile tech and a female perspective are valuable additions, and Joe's column continues to entertain. We're always looking to improve though, but can't if you just say 'everything's rubbish'. On errors - we print corrections where appropriate - not sure what else you'd like. Group tests - 24in Monitor labs - 10 reviews, Keyboard and mouse labs - 14 reviews, Watercooling labs - 13 reviews, Storage labs - 32 reviews, Z77 motherboard labs - 8 reviews. I really can't agree with you that we're testing so few products as to be 'worthless'. However, it sounds like you've made up your mind. Thanks for the support through the years, and we hope to see you back buying the mag someday. |
