New owner of a BlackBerry 9700
Hello,
I've recently inherited a BlackBerry from my wee sister and I'm new to all this smart phone stuff. Any recommended applications I should get? Any cool wee puzzle, word games I can get too? ![]() Thanks. |

A BlackBerry phone it's a weird phone. Mainly brought out in the beginning for business people which they should have stuck with. You may ask why I Say that,
Well you can corrupt the software so easily, after working in a shop which had a repair centre and seeing the amount of phones that came in for this reason changed my mind about them. Don't get me wrong for emails, you cannot touch a BlackBerry phone. It also has the advantage of having BBM but whatsapp is now just as good, which of cause you BlackBerry also can use. My best advice is not to put games on it. If you going to change the theme on it, only use the themes from elecite as they never seem to crash the phone. The 9700 had the best battery of the lot, mine used to last four days. Music please don't let put on downloaded music as some of this also crashes the phone. Their is little tricks like holding down the ALT key whilst at the same time keying in LGLG then going to menu then click on clear log, this helps to clear rubbish off your phone. Minimizing the battery light to 20% to help keep the battery life longer. I better get off this subject now as I could carry on forevermore on about BlackBerry. So keep downloads to the bare minimum. Hope this helps. Using tapatalk2 on my HTC

Ignore this lot, they're just spouting rubbish.
First thing to do is download the blackberry desktop software from blackberry.com Then connect your phone and update it to the latest OS. Once you've done that, google for crackberry and find a new theme or software. Oh and enjoy having 4 days battery life! |

Thanks for the responses. I was looking at an android but I'm also stingy and like my £10.50 per month orange deal. Might pick one up but in the mean time I thought I'd have a go with this.
I like it so far. I'm primarily using it for the calendar and e-mail anyway so I'm not bothered. The battery life and the handset size are what matters most to me phone wise. |

4 days life?!
PAH! Try 4 hours. The battery life is abysmal on mine. Software I use is Screen Muncher (print screens), Desktop Software, Google Sync, Tube Map, Google Maps, Addison Lee app, WhatsApp and of course Fruits and Ninja |

I had a blackberry about 6 months ago.
I hated it, worst phone I've owned. I just couldn't get on with it at all! Interface was all wrong. Oh, and my battery lasted about a day? If that? My Nexus has similar battery life, but then it's powering an awful lot more!

When my 9700 was new I used to get a week of battery. Two years on and even with using the facebook app (much better than android or iphone versions of it) on a regular basis and receiving loads of emails a day, I still get 4 days ish off it.
Some of you say the Blackberry GUI is wrong, I say its got everything exactly where I expect it and that both iphone and android are all over the shop. KEYS. Its a proper phone with KEYS. One of the best phones I've ever had. When I want music I turn on the radio, so MP3 was never an issue. The camera is dross but I have a SLR elsewhere so who cares

What're you trying to delete?
I won't argue with you on the keys though
