Almost pulled the trigger on one today but found all the motherboard variants a bit confusing and gave up
Just want to overclock and run SLI without paying 200quid for a mobo, more like 100.

Worthy upgrade for my AMD Phenom X3 450 @ 3.8.. I think so... And whoopy doo, I just had a windfall, timing couldn't be better.
Now.. Just to replace my 4870!

I'm lucky enough to have a 2600K capable of performing as below so Ivybridge CPU upgrade for me???
Nah Looking at the test figures my current CPU is capable of outperforming both the tested 3570K and 3770K; further still it doesn't require a yet to be designed cooling solution to prevent it going thermonuclear at high overclocks... |

I'll get my new one over the weekend, then I'm aiming to beat that score!!! The game is afoot!

Ahh, so jealous of everyone posting about their new builds with Ivy Bridge. I'd love to upgrade my P55 i5 750 but funds don't allow at the moment. Hopefully I can join the upgraders in a few months time.

At risk of sounding like a broken record, now that Intel's new IB chips and Z77 boards are out, and AMD and Nvidia have both started to release their 2012 hardware, any chance of a new Hardware Buyer's Guide?!

All this talk of 14nm is scary - will these ICs last for any length of time? They must be going to be so fragile...

Thanks for a great job. I'm looking to upgrade and have been reading for days about i5- vs FX- and your review has been the the most thorough out there.
So i'm finally going to jump ship from AMD to Intel and get the 3570. Just one question, why does fx-8150 beat i5-3570k on both Passmark and 3Dmark ?? |

Anyone have any idea how much of an overclock you can get before having to increase voltage?
Or how much to not bottleneck a GTX680?

Upgraded my Q9550@3.4Ghz to an i5-3750k at the weekend and added an M4 SSD while I was at it. Runs at 4.3Ghz with no voltage tweaks (i.e. about 1.12v) which is a pretty good low power overclock imo. Mainly play DCS flight sims and the upgrade has made them much smoother. Combined with the SSD, I now have virtually instant responses and sub 30sec boot times from the OS. I think it was a good upgrade.
