I think some of you guys need to read the small print.
The nationwide isa has small print qualifiers, so 4.25% my backendio. You need to have held a flex acocount as your main account, for 3 months minimum, pay in minimum of £750 a month, then carry on the same for isa term etc etc etc etc The big print is to get people in and it clearly works, So not negative, just realistic. I doubt youl find a short term savings for 5%. |

What pablo said.
You've obviously done well out of actively taking introductory offers but you can't refer to it as saving. And most of us don't quite have the volume of money that gives bargaining power. Say I've got £10,000. Would any bank I have no history with give me 4+ on easy access or 5+ on fixed terms. |

So try and find a good deal and get it in here ![]() First Direct Savings Account 8% (if you have £1,500 a month - just stick your wage in it, thats well below national average salary, so good for most peeps). HSBC savings account 6% (if you have £500 a month). Halifax Family Saver 6% (you have to have kids). Saffron Building Society 4% (normal current account, no rules).

Gonna loook at the small print on them now, cheers
First one, i dont even get that a year (ha ha you changed it from £31,500 to £1500) Still more than i earn though HSBC one sound interesting Third one useless to me also. I think like as above, we should of specified a regualr type savings. Not ones where you have to give your third child, or its based on period times etc etc etc. Theres no decent rate for interest nowadays without massive amounts of small print/qualifiers. I realise now though that gone are the days that only 2 things were need. 1. put money in bank 2. get good rate of interest. Last edited by PabloFunky; 2nd May 2012 at 19:55. |

Find an account where there's a penalty for withdrawing the money before a certain date - like foregone interest omn a savings account - make sure the penalty is sizable enough to stop you taking it out
Or just get some self control |

Had a £25 win in this months Premium Bonds Prize Draw : )
Don't see why people don't just have an account with the £100 minimum in it and stop doing the lottery. Would give you effectively 100 chances at the £1,000,000 prize each draw. Think the odds of winning are about 1,200,000 to 1. So over a 12 month period your £100 gives you 1200 chances to win £1,000,000. Me and the GF are stepping up the old savings, I'm putting £500 a month away and shes putting £400. Ib4 needing at least a 20% deposit these days for a house. /sigh |
