Agreed, leave the fan and stripe red, and paint the rest of the red parts white. It will look good and you avoid painting the fan, which i bet would have been a pain in the ass job. I don't know if it will look cheap, but maybe you could use some 3M di-noc on the black part.

I agree about card prices, they are way too expensive for the new 7*** series...
My 6870 is the best value yet! But the 5850 is also a solid card, so you might as well keep it
ALso,I would say keep stripe and fan red, black goes white and other red too. I'd also keep rear red exhaust red.

I know, the prices are ridiculous at the moment. I think the performance is convincing, but the prices aren't worth that small boost of performance.

I have a GTX 560ti direct cuII which i got for £145. Great price for great performance.

This looks amazing. It looks on par with what attila does. Mindbending techniques man.

Ok, first sorry for a loooong delay on updates. (Once again ) I'm trying to do much more regular updates from now on!

And second, thanks for all the comments guys!

So, where to start this update.. Well, I finally ordered rest of the hardware. All the missing parts are here this week. Should get those tested and first boot done next weekend.

In fact I already received first of the last parts:

I also rethought some things on this case. Exhaust grille has a new and hopefully final revision done. Repainted motherboard tray too. And most likely I'm running this as an open air case for now.. Being LAN-party computer, dust and noise isn't really a problem.

For short, it's starting to come together finally. Here's mock up of how it looks currently:

Logo is partially done too:

More coming soon.. For real!

Thanks riekmaharg2!

And sadly no updates this weekend.. Like you know, my motherboard is Maximus IV Gene-Z/Gen3 and CPU is 3570K. Aaand that motherboard needs BIOS update to work with Ivy's. Which I can't do if CPU isn't supported.

Way to go Asus, even labeling motherboard box 'Future Intel 22nm CPU ready'.. Just forgot to mention it requires BIOS update.

Ok, it was partially my mistake too, I just bought the motherboard too early since I needed it for mocking up all the component placements. But it's still extremely annoying!

Need to get this sorted out somehow, but that'll have to wait until next week.. Blah.

Thanks MacGyver! Erm..

I'm borrowing Celeron G530 next week for BIOS update so that's sorted out.

Meanwhile here's slightly personalized SSD.. No 'N' jokes, please!

And couple random component photos since I don't have anything better to post..

Intel boxed cooler is of course temporary..

Thank you KidMod-Southpaw, Razer2007, Ygd3n and Furball Zen!

Finally got the Celeron for BIOS update..

Had to steal some power and graphics card from another system.

Everything went really smooth this time around:

BIOS update with Celeron chip was really easy and took under ten minutes.. And as a bonus I got to keep it! The guy who I borrowed chip didn't need it back since he updated to Ivy too. Now, what to do with that CPU.. Key ring?

Also went ahead and changed CPU to 3570K, installed Windows, drivers etc. Everything works just fine.. Next I just need to finish the case itself!
