Tsk, sir, tsk!
![]() TBH I have phases, at the moment it's BF3. Before that it was non stop RPGs and the like, I didn't touch shooters for a long time. Throw in a switch over to my PS3 and my PC was left unused for about 3-6months. Other batches of just doing other things. It's good to throw other things into the mix, give gaming a break - there'll be a game that comes along that reminds you how much you miss it but you won't miss it unless you have a rest from it.

I take breaks, but also you need to switch up genre. Playing nothing but FPS or any other single type of game too much, you will get bored. I especially recommend grabbing some indie games now and then. Something like Dear Esther, Sideway New York, Gemini Rue, Limbo... break out of your rut and play something really different.

Gone of MP games atm bar cs 1.6 as i have a few buddies that play scrims and such, thats always fun. But bf3 my god ive given it chance after chance and tbh, its bad. It was great before their awful suppression means you cant hit me update, oh but when im suppressing you, you can kill me? Ok-_-. Then i get the whole join a server to be put on the team with all the donkeys and lose every game.
Have a few SP games backlogged though, skyrim, TW2, SC2 campaign, Deus Ex HR, so theyll hopefully keep me going game wise. Did try D3 using a trial key, restricted me to normal mode and let me play till The Skeleton King, bland, easy and tbh doesnt look like its worth the £45 blizz want for it. Generally ****ing bored when im not working, with girlfriend or sleeping =] Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

I go through phases with games aswell, it's not something I'd worry about :P
As others have said, focus on a new hobby or something, and no doubt in the future you'll get back into it

I've always had a mixture of things to do and I've gone to the flicks/watched TV/DVDs or read books/magazines much more often compared to the amount of gaming I did, all the way back to school days. That and having so little time that I'm always discovering big games late and cheap must be why I'm still interested, albeit with zero tolerance for bugs and low-value DLC.
I tend to look at the winter release schedule and pick the one "Christmas Game" to finish between purchase and New Year. This year, with the Tribes Ascend beta I didn't even need to spend any money until the launch five months later. Got back into CSS prior to that just to conserve money for bigger releases that my old PC could play. Console gaming is a different story, I've watched more 4oD than played games on my 360, it's the casual side that's died a real death for me at the mo.

Personally I think that as you go through your 20's, your tastes will change a lot and it will become harder and harder to entertain to you. Not just with games but with films and music and everything else. Our tastes mature and that's that. I remember when I was a kid, I used to love a tv show with a witch and she used to fly around on a vacuum cleaner and scare all the children. When I was 18 I would never even want to go near a show like that. But when you are 25 you are likely not going to be interested in whatever you liked when you were 18 too, and I think most people find it hard to come to terms with that.
But you should still be able to find other games that interest you. Personally I can no longer play anything that is a hack n slash game, or an arcade racing game or anything like that. As a grumpy old git I am only interested in more simulation type games, but luckily there are still games that exist that can entertain me. It just becomes harder because for every Arma2 and Shift2 there are about twenty Call of Duties and Need4Spd Super Awesome Funtime games. So you just have to pick out what you can, which is harder, but you can still do it. I also think that in addition to these challenges, standards in the games industry have slipped too. There is so much focus on shallower things like graphics these days, and it costs so many millions to make great looking games, they NEED to have serious mass appeal to make a profit, so they also have to not be too hard or too complicated. And it has become a self perpetuating issue now because newer generations of gamers have grown up expecting this and rejecting anything else. If it doesn't look as good as Battlefield 3 and have simple and accessible gameplay, then most people think it sucks. But the light at the end of the tunnel is that gaming is getting more and more gigantic year after year. So it may not be as big as the huge Diablo, Elder Scrolls, Call of Duty type franchises, but there are still some smaller games that exist which still manage to reach enough people that they can afford to still be well made and look decent too by modern standards. |

There was a magic, in the likes of Doom, Half-Life, Far Cry 1, Quake 2, Halo CE, Serious Sam and some that I never got the chance to experience; that has now all but dissolved into the mist of legend. Any new game I try these days (single player especially) tends to bore me - there's no real fun, in terms of being a game. Flashy graphics is all so nice but if I wanted that I would take a holiday and see the "graphics" of the world tbh. Well I'm enjoying starcraft 2 atm, but it's not a real enjoyment the likes of the days of old.

I have gone off gaming a bit as well to be honest. As hamza said I am struggling to find a game with that 'spark' that 'magic'. For me it was NFS road challenge, age of empires 2 and cod 4. The only game I can think of which has given me that 'magic' is the witcher 2, which in my mind is the best game of all time.

See i have been on and off gaming recently, right now im off gaming sold my rig and just using a laptop for internet. For me its a combination of a new job, 3 kids and the lack of decent games on the PC.
Im going to build another rig but its not going to be the latest gear, will consist of 1366 socket stuff and a gtx 480. it will be mostly for video and lots of photo editing and maybe if i have time then some light gaming. Instead of gaming i took up photography (same as Wuyanxu.....) over a year ago and that also took up any spare time I had. You will get back into gaming but not as hardcore as before and as mentioned before its also with age im 31 years old and been married for 10 years!!!!

Old man above me lol. I still game a minimum of 4 hours a night. Still play mainly the same game I have played since 2005 though with the occasional Call of Duty 4. Do not play competitive as in a league anymore as my times that I play will not coincide with anyone else.
But there aren't enough decent games out there, i am now going to try the Grand Prix games.

Im in a similar situation, have been for the last few years really. Ive actually been buying games by the dozen to find something that does it for me. I think, after playing games for as many years as many of us have, you simply realise you have seen it all. Sure you can dress things up in a new way, add a few gimmicks or twists, but its still essentially the same game it was 10 years ago, just under a different title and better graphics. Its not that new games have dropped in quality, its just there is not much left to do, and what there is to do, is so niche that only smaller indie studios without a publisher can have a shot at making it into a game.
The last game I truly enjoyed was probably (not including my first 100 days or so game time of WoW - my first MMO) Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Since then ive played over 100 games, and not one has exited me beyond the occasional, 'oh that was a kinda fun moment'. Even the likes of The Witcher 2 (In my opinion, weaker than the 1st), Skyrim and Battlefield 3 failed to really entertain. |

Been gaming 30 odd years, occasionally get bored of it. The kids tend to put that right. Right now a bit bored even with kids as the games out there are generally such dross.
