A dual GPU recommended by CPC?? Surely not!
Do my eyes deceive me? Custom PC recommending sli cards! I see that you have the 690 as the extreme(elite?) recommendation graphics card. Just a few issues ago(well maybe more than a few) sli and crossfire were being wished away into room 101. So what has changed in those few months? Is sli suddenly brilliant? Any chance of an article on what improvements you've seen in the technology that brought this change of opinion?

Think it could be that the 690, is actually as good as 2 680's, rather than usual x2 cards, that had to be unclocked to run together, and where a nightmare to keep cool, and had high electricity usage, so for once, the dual gpu card is actually worth it, especially since 3 monitor set ups are getting popular, and since it dosent run so hot, it makes cooling easier.

example 3dmark 2011: p15039 pts - 2600k, 8gb, 690 system ( my mate's pc )
p10834 pts - my system listed below
p 8620 pts - 3770k, 8gb, 670 ( another friends pc score )

Ano none of the systems are the same, but since 3dmark focuses on the gpu, i thought this might be a good comparision for people to see price vs performance of these nvidia cards.

We recommended the GTX 590 3GB too; Nvidia and AMD have both improved their multi-GPU support greatly in the last few years, with Nvidia especially focussing on day 1 support for new games with SLI profiles. multi-GPU analysis? in the works.

Well that's true on the 590. I guess I got the impression you weren't too fond of SLI. I look forward to see what you come up with in the article.
