OMG Stunning compositions on the India GP photos :O Such well use of negative space. Jealous!

As for Djzic.... love the tree photos. Very dramatic and beautiful + the tree trunk in the stream.

For me I've had no power for a very long time due to the storm... so for me cell phone pics only

Did the storm affect you badly Neo? I have family in Manhattan and LI, they reported pretty quick restoration of power/services.

I don't know if it's the speed at F1, or my particular lens, or spotty AF on my lens and/or body, but I only got a meagre handful of "proper" razor-sharp shots from the Indian GP weekend. The rest all needed serious massaging in post. 'tis very strange, because your shot is taken with the same lens and looks waaaaaay sharper.

What lens did you use? The 100 - 400? It has a tendancy to go soft wide open, so if the light is good enough its better to shoot at around f8 if possible. Also, with the insane speed of f1 cars i can imagine you needing a very fast shutter speed!

I think the shots look great and lets not forget theres a world of difference between shooting an f1 car and a british touring car

Some shots were indeed wide open, or a couple of thirds down. Couldn't really be helped, the haze/pollution was awful, days were very dull.

The 50D is noisy above ISO400, so I tend to change everything except ISO to get enough light.

The only shots that have come out all right are the panning ones, where I could slow down the shutter, stop down for sharpness and have the ISO set low enough for a clean image.

I know what you mean, and it sounds like you did what you could.

If noise is an issue ( which it has been on my 550d) another thing ive noticed is that cleaning up noise from a RAW is much more effective if the shot is exposed right. So maybe next time throw in a few higher iso shots that are correctly exposed And are up nearer f8 to see how you get on with post processing out the noise.

Its not perfect but i like to experiment and ive had some half decent results like that.

No more motorsport eventa for me until april now!
