Folding@home production lower than expected
I have been folding for about 8 years. Right now I have one rig running smp and gpu. I am only getting around 17000 ppd. It fluctuates day by day and its been going up to 22000 ppd, but I think there is more I can do to get it higher. Here are my specs. AMD 965BE stock clocks, ASRock Deluxe 4, 8GB 1600mhz memory, Nvidia 460GTX superclocked. I feel like its more the CPU thats not performing as expected. Sure I could overclock and this specific CPU will run at 4GHZ, but I am trying to watch my power consumption too.
The cpu is earning 8573.20 ppd right now The gpu is earning 8200 ppd right now Any ideas on how to speed things up? Thanks.

Probably, but I don't fold for the Bit-tech team, so I wasn't sure where to post it.

All depends on units allocated, if you get quicker units you get more ppd.
If you did want a boost pick up 2 cheap second hand 480s beasts they are for folding. Intel CPUs at the minute are alot better on power usage if your looking to save money long term you could technically buy the 3770k + mobo and save the electric cost over 2 years vs what your running. |

My main workstation is a 3770k and yeah, it rips through F@H, but I cannot run it 24/7 because I use it a lot. That's why I have the dedicated rig. Yeah, 480s would rip too, but they are too expensive and use way too much power. I actually upgraded from two dedicated rigs running Core 2s and 8800GSs and this rig outperforms both of them together in power usage and ppd. I am still happy with its performance, I just think there is more in the hardware that I already have.

You could try pushing the GTX460 a bit further. I recall mine used to get about 10,000ppd. But, as Rollo said, it does depend on the work units. Over the past couple of weeks, and without any change in hardware my ppd has varied between 20,000 and 45,000 ppd!

What client are you using? V6.34 or the new V7 all in one. As V7 is using A4 units which vary wildly in their PPD. I can go as low as 15k and as high as 35k on my 2600k when running it at 4.8Ghz with highly clocked memory.

I am using the newest client. I had hit 14000 ppd just on the gpu on the previous client. Yeah, I have noticed that the ppd are really going up and down. That's most likely the issue.

Also remember you get a 10% bonus one the units are uploaded for A4, this doesn't show in the client but will online.
And it is a proven fact that you get more points if you fold for Bit-Tech
