mines due in march/april time, I am thinking lumia 920 too, hopefully it will be available on O2 by then, if not it will have to be 820 or htc 8x

sticking with O2, only because the wife and kids are on it as well, and wife won't deal with three again, due to ****wits in customer service

I'm not sure the technology was up to full-fat Windows on a tablet at the time, judging by the XP tablet devices from around 2004 (I have one --nice idea, but slow and horrendously short battery life). I can see why Sinofsky was against it. Even now it is touch and go --the RT being a sort of compromise solution. I wouldn't expect x86 performance with ARM battery life at ARM cost until about 2014 or 2015.

The thing is: iOS was perfectly tuned to the available hardware, but is already starting to feel dated and limited unless it has a major revamp. Windows 8 feels a bit slower and has some rough edges, but it will grow into future hardware capabilities wonderfully. It has a longer functional lifespan.

It will have a lifespan of 3 years which is about the average time between windows releases at the minute. microsoft surface 2 will be out next year with a more up to date cpu and gpu.

Has anyone else notices the problem with IBB powered forums where you can't enter a carriage return in your text in IE10. Very Annoying.

Perhaps the games are not made for Windows 8 (logically). They'll get patched. Personally I have absolutely no compatibility problems so far. And I have some outrageous legacy stuff.

nor have I, all my games work, there was a problem with crisis 2 which has since been patched, but was possible to get past by changing directx mode.

Interestingly, despite the anticipated drama and reluctance to adopt the new Windows GUI and its accompanying input device, it later became the de facto industry standard. Hmmm... we may be there again.

Yup: people did not see the need for Windows or a mouse. Now people couldn't imagine doing without them. Now they don't see the need for live Tiles or a touch screen... plus ca change...
