I'm a little... Unusual, photography wise. I explore Abandoned Mines, and naturally photograph them, and I don't use AF at all.
Here's a couple. First is shot on an EOS 400D with a Pentacon 30/3.5, the Second on an NEX-3 with the same lens. Just a disclaimer - Don't go in Mines without someone who knows what they are doing - People DO die, and the dangers are not usually obvious. How odd - I use a 400D, and also own a pentacon 30mm, along with a Helios 44m, but I think you mean 3.5?
