So I got a Pure 60% board and its great just not for playing RTS games. I seem to remember some one saying there is a way to use wasd as arrow keys. Is this true?
So far I found you can use okl; or shift, alt right win, menu and right ctrl as arrow keys but not wasd. It is not a big issue but I find this to be to close to my mouse hand for comfort. Yes standard keyboards are no better and I probably could change the controls in my fav. RTS games but it would make life easier if I could do it on the board. Like I said I seem to remember some one saying this is possible.

Also is there a travel case for the Pure?

No. I think you mixed it up with Poker which does have WASD cursor.

I do, with clears, consider your services procured good sir and you can fix my 1800 up with new switches to get rid of chatter too.

I was tempted with one (and to build it myself) however soldering the microcontroller looked a bit much! :S

Microcontrollers are actually a lot easier than they look - Flux is key here!

I bought a newmen-gm10, imported it from china for about £30 quid (all in), its a fake mechanical keyboard, but that is good practice as there is a big microcontroller on there, take that off and on a few times and you will be soldering pro!

But with flux, the solder often goes where you want it, and not all the places that you dont.

I think the hardest bit is the cap at C3 if you are putting it in a poker case, as there is a tiny bit of wire that needs to be soldered in - with the exception of that everything is pretty easy, especially with soldering paste and hot air - as you can do a load of things at once then.

I believe I have found my most favourite keyboard, but I believe actually finding one is going to be a nightmare:

is just a cherry 1800, they all look like this, but I like the two tone shell, and the brown switches, and the bonus red doubleshot keys (Though someone is selling these on gh at the moment - just the keys not the board)

Ahh. Browns are nice, but I'm hankering for a 60% with Blues at the moment. Going to have to save and see if I can find a poker with blues in a few months. As much as i love the pure that short right shift makes it expensive to get aftermarket caps as you have to buy the tangsan kits (if they've done one) and end up with a whole bunch of useless keys as you only need the one from the add on kit.


However I will miss the Pure's function layer....

GH60 will come assembled except for the switches when the groupbuy happens. Only prototype required assembly due to the small order fab not going to run that few with pick and place. So the controller and diodes and usb connector and all those tiny smd things will all be done for you. Only need to solder the switches which is easy.

Unless you send switch I can't change the 1800 to those. Only other possibility of what I have enough of for full board is blacks.

1863wNv edition is quite hard to find intact. It would be easier to build it yourself. Step 1 buy the wNv white on red keyset from feng, step 2 buy 1865/raptor k1, step2b buy doubleshots set from G81-7000 if you couldn't manage to find G80 with, step 3 take off the casebody top and paint it white. Voila.
