February 27, 2004 – ABIT, along with Intel, Kingston, Dong Feng Yueda Kia Motors, Western Digital, and Viewsonic are pleased to announce the ACON4 Worldwide Gaming Event. Spread out over 19 countries and territories, ACON4 promises to be one of 2004’s most exciting gaming events.

“We’ve assembled a gaming tournament on a truly global scale,” says ABIT Marketing Director Scott Thirlwell, “ABIT along with our partners are excited to be able to bring this competition to gamers world wide.”

Throughout 19 different countries and territories worldwide, avid gamers will participate in the ACON4 qualifiers. During each qualifying event, one gamer will win the right to represent their region at the ACON4 finals. From there, the winners will be flown, all expenses paid, to the ACON4 finals located in Shanghai, China. The representatives from each region will then compete head-to-head in a Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne tournament to determine the ACON4 champion.

“ACON4 is a unique opportunity for gamers to not only show off their skills, but also win the right to represent their country and experience one of the world’s most dynamic cities. It’s going to be a fantastic event for all in attendance.”

ACON4 qualifiers will take place in the following 19 countries and territories:

USA, France, Australia, Finland, Denmark, Spain, Canada, Korea, thailand, Norway, Italy, Poland, UK, china, Japan, Sweden, Taiwan, Russia, Germany.

“The stakes are high at ACON4. Not only will representatives from each region receive an all-expense paid trip to Shanghai, but also have a chance to win some of the most exciting prizes to have been offered at a gaming event, including a car from Dong Feng Yueda Kia Motors.” The complete ACON4 prize list will be announced in the next 2 weeks. “We are thrilled to be able to participate in ACON4, and share our culture of speed and form with gamers from around the world,” said Dong Feng Yueda Kia Motors CEO Zheng Da Yu.

UK’s qualifier will be organized by Multiplay, UK’s largest LAN party organization. Multiplay’s I series of LANs are the largest of its kind in UK, and ACON4 qualifiers will occur during I19. The winner of the Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne tournament portion of I19 will represent UK in the ACON4 finals.
