Quake 4 better be more brightly lit than Doom 3! "eek lets hide the missing polygons by dimming the lights"

EdIT Being serious, I didn't even play Quake 3 much. I'm more into the single player aspect of first person shooters. Grand Theft Auto would be exactly the kind of game I'd like.

From what I have seen, Quake 4 looks to be much brighter than Doom 3; this should be a fun game if your computer can run it

Well nvidia's a bit favored in the Doom3 engine, should combine nicely with SLI That screenie looks very impressive, and although I never played much of the first three, it looks like it might redeem the impressive doom3 engine, because Doom3, im my eyes, wasn't even worth my friends bandwidth.

I'm sure we'll hear more before that time comes though.

Doom 3 was probably the best bang for your buck game. I totally loved it, the sheer feel of the game sets it above HL2.

HL2 is no second runner up in my eyes, the game delivers an amazing gameplay feel (Grav gun anyone?) But I felt at times I was being rushed by the game play and could not marvel at the environment.

Now what about Enthusia for the playstation 2? If what they are saying about the game is only 95% achieved in a public release, I must own it.

I think the difference here was the underlying story and intent. Doom 3 was just so dark, and played out like a horror novel (unique, compared to the first 2). HL2 was a lot like a "Spartacus" story, and was a bit more epic in scope (thus the rushed feeling, or the game would take forever). I liked both games a lot, but for different reasons entirely. However, HL2 will be replayed (probably several times), because a neat, sweeping epic is always fun. Doom3 is a once and done...like a good horror movie, it creeped me out and scared me at times, but now I know where the surprises are and it's just not as effective.

Oh for crying out loud. Quake 3 was a great game, if it was too dark you just turn your gamma up. Ever heard of the cinematic experience where you dont see ab-sol-ute-ly-ev-ery-th-ing.
Quake 3 was lovely and fast paced, and if you dont like multiplayer FPS then obviously Quake 4 isnt really for you It's like saying you didnt like Silent Hill because it was scary.

I cant wait, **** single player i want uber fast MP action. I want it so fast and hardcore i forget to blink.

I could never get the hang of ra3, i just enjoyed CTF instagib and the 150% speed DM servers. The 131 patch basically made the game pretty **** though, and by that point there were cheaters galore

/me wakes up!

Cant believe i missed this before.

I still play q3, specifically q3 threewave mod. Servers are still busy enough to have a choice most of the time (busier than RA3 ... there arent even any UK leagues for RA any more ... tis a shame but CPMA owns RA3 andyway, and threewave is RA less the naff armour protect = CTF of various guises.

Its still my most played game. I havent liked anything else since i became hooked on it. Simply, nothing else has the pace that Q3 does, you need skill and speed to do well, and thats why i like it. Its still exhillerating rocket jumping form one side of the map to the other in less time it takes to blink.

This is one game i will definately be preordering ... and not expected til this time next year as dadego rightly said!
