Ahh, uhhh, so?

Seriously, is there anyone who even uses NS anymore that isn't on AOL? And who honestly believes that hybridizing two now fairly compliant browsers will truly create a better experience? Isn't that the point of standards compliance in the first place?

This should have the tag line of:
"Since FF doesn't have a whole host of errors and IE fixed many of theirs, we saw a great opportunity to bring you a new browsing experience based on the hybrid technology of these leading browsers.

"That's right, we combined the best of each of them to give you some top-notch security flaws and both browsers' little quirks! Try getting that from one or the other...And to top it all off, our little N logo lights up!"

You don't want to know. Suffice to say it wasn't nice, or called for.

A very slight element of truth, possibly, in that a number of infrequently-updated commercial and government sites will sniff for various IE and NS versions, send the appropriate code, and ignore or mishandle young upstarts like Firefox. I found this when I was looking for car insurance.

im a little concerned.....

The final version also comes with a heavy emphasis on security, with built-in anti-phishing safeguards. The browser adjusts its security settings automatically, based on a regularly-updated blacklist of dangerous or malicious sites.
so, who decides what the dangerous sites are, and how long would it take the spyware/virus/bad dudes to just remove themselves from the list or localhost the update sites in hosts?

i didnt even realise netscape were still making browsers till i saw this. call me jaded, but im happy with firefox.

Seriously. I can't believe they're even in business still.

Maybe their "protection" will function like China...noone able to read any sites that NS declares are bad for you. Heh...better be careful before M$ gets a hold of this idea. Suddenly IE users won't be able to open up www.getfirefox.com .

I've just downloaded it, and the interface is very firefox-esque. You can also quite happily do your windows updates in it.

As for the 'safe site' feature, it can be disabled.

I personally use opera, but this doesnt actually look half bad, except for one thing....

It seems to have some memory issues cos when I looked at my process list it was using 80meg of memory, then about 5 minutes later, after id just been looking at some sites in opera it had reduced to 40meg. Right now after opening and closing an assload of tabs its sitting at 63....

I'll be sticking with opera for now I think.
