So let me get this straight, my government is supposedly testing its OWN failures, not hiring a bunch of outside firms to do this? My faith in our intelligence is now lost. You don't audit YOURSELF, there is an inherent bias. And in the case of the government, an extra layer of beaurocratic goodness.

As for the topic as a whole, cyberterrorism is IMHO a very real and frightening possibility. Both the US and the UK run their entire commerce, power grid, and identity verification/control on computers. The idea of toppling the banking system, for instance, would cripple the countries and probably put a good amount of the world in a chaotic spin. And you know what banks run on in this country? 1970s and 80s Mainframes. Our businesses are cheap and don't want to upgrade, because that costs money. Most of them have incredibly lax security, and the people they hire for IT are often questionable (because they're cheap, and real IT people want to go work for a big software company).

It's a very dangerous, wired world out there.

Well, despite how much I love my computer, I'd rather have no net connection from cyberwar (oh god, I'd need to see bit-tech addicts anon.) than a gunshot wound or have a building fall on me or anthrax in the lungs.

However, I thought that the banks and ATMs had their own complete closed-loop setup that's not connected to the net at all... so they'd have to do some massive screwing around with Paypal lol

Without revealing too much, firehed, my fiancee works as an internal auditor for banks (2 different ones so far). If you'd like to THINK it's that secure, be my guest...

Or maybe, they already have targeted bit-tech, and they in fact control all of the major influential online websites. Maybe they are spoonfeeding these different sites exactly what to post in order to influence the young internet surfing community into doing something totally irrational which benefits them in some secret way. Perhaps they are, in fact, watching us right now, as we post, laughing, reveling in their own glory of ruling our minds through the internet... Controlling our thoughts, our actions, our very existence... Choosing who lives and who dies, casually selecting the next world superpower, and entertaining themselves by pitting armies against each other. Maybe they revel in our death, our destruction of the human race and its surroundings. I bet they are making me type this, as some small part in their master plan, their blueprint for the destiny of the race of man...

Or maybe, I'm just a quack.

You'd think all big powerful companies would do something sensible like that, wouldn't you?

Worrying how little common sense most organisations have.
