I guess it comes down to what will the screen be used for? If it's for picking tracks then it can't really be a shuffle any more, but if it's just for displaying the current track (in case you can't remember what songs you put on your shuffle) then it could keep the name and not look stupid.

Just too early to tell. I think 4 or 8gb would be pointless without a screen. I think an 8gb iPod skinny-mini with flash and a screen would be great. It could be smaller with a longer battery life and finally be perfect for the market they originally built it for.

Flash > Hdd.
If this happens, imo, this'd be great, and i'd consider getting one.

I rarely look at the screen on my 20GB ipod so a big shuffle would be good imo. One of those OLED or whatever displays would be nice if integrated well, but the shuffle is basically set it and forget it. In fact the only time I really look at the screen on my 20gb is a) if I'm doing an audiobook and I need to turn off shuffle or b) if I want to know what time it is (I'll occasionally use the backlight as a night light so I can see where I'm going and not trip over the crap in my room too). I mean realistically, how often do you not know what song you're listening to, and why would you put music on your ipod if you don't like it (ie, need to search for a track you like)?
This doesn't necessarily mean MORE music, it could very well mean higher quality of the same amount.
