Well the specs aren't anything to boast about. But I saw that yesterday (was browsing laptops) and thought that it couldn't include the monitor, but it does. It had a very short warrantee though, and I'm pretty sure shipping wasn't included (and by past experiences, that's $100 min for ground)

Is it worth mentioning that the people reading this bit of news here aren't the type that would be buying from Dell anyways? I mean there's of course the "nobody can beat our price for a budget machine" thing, but I don't think you guys would be buying them even if they were available at whatever $300 in GBP is.

I agree with Firehed. Since I was living in Europe for most of my life (Lithuania) I think I know why Dell is not selling them in US. At least in parts of Eastern Europe that I've been to people are much more knowledgable about Computer components that they are buying. Majority of the europeans know more about the hardware than people in US and this is why I think Dell is selling low-budget PCs in US.

Hmmm...I will say most people can't tell their processor from their arse over here..

Honestly, though...a bit of reasoning. The US is the largest computer-using group per capita. Intel needs to push out some old chips so they can flood the market with their DRM/Hacker loving new chips. Great way to clear out inventory is to sell them to Dell at reduced prices. Now why you guys can't get the same deal? Probably shipping and export taxes. Dell IS an american company, after all. I would expect to pay aqua computer a pretty penny to get their stuff over here, far more than you guys.

Perhaps we should all be yelling at our respective legislatures as to why everything costs so bloody much over there? I mean, seriously...6gb ipods are like $225 here! Inter-country commerce on any sizeable scale is just ridiculously expensive, particularly for America, who is not well liked sometimes in Europe and thus suffers heavier business penalties.

fuel duty which is set at 300%(for transport) and VAT which is another 17.5%

thats why everything over here is more expensive
