I'm trying to decide what I hate more, these huge ones or the super evil 511 points which drag my PPD through the mud

I'm not sure whether it's quicker to keep deleting the 511's and hope for better ones, or to let them run out.

If I catch em before 10% I normally pitch em

Gotta remember if stanford need these doing then so be it! :thumb:

everyone on every team is being affected by them and so everyone's ppd will be affected.
the more you kick em the longer we have to deal with them.
I've got two on me now @ 42% and @40% :duh:

True true, but we should put them onto the more casual folder maybe. The people that install the client and forget about it, the people with Anonymous usernames, the people that fold once in a while.

I understand a problem delayed often comes full circle and punches you in the face, but why shouldn't people who dont really care get them. Hell the users that aren't even running FAHMon and all they know is they're computers doing something ;)
This problem is even more apparent when the chimp challenge kicks off offically were going to need ever 0.00001PPD

Like for example I snuk the client onto my girlfriends computer illeterate dad's PC, and I bet people like him dont care about horrible projects.

EVERYONE Folds for some reason - yes, some are more obsessive and have a better understanding of what's going on, but that doesn't mean to say the 'casual' Folder should be penalised ......

I'm not trying to threaten you with this, but give you fair warning. If someone from Stanford peruses these forums, sees this post with you admitting to ditching WU's, there's a very good chance you'll have points zero'd out. It's not something Stanford and Vijay take lightly.

Remember folks, we're in this for the SCIENCE, not the points. We want to cure, and if that means folding the crappy point proteins, then by golly that's what we do. After all, wouldn't it totally suck to ditch the WU that may hold the cure?

Please, never forget that the main goal of this project is to cure many terrible diseases that affect so many people close to us each year. The points mean nothing next to the lives this could change.

I was stuck with 511 pointers for most of yesterday... I guess everyone gets them at some point, so I just left them running. Thought there was a problem with my rig at first though, but I'm glad they're known to take a bit longer than most. :)

Consider yourself lucky! I've been 'plagued' with them for the last two days. Currently 5 out of my 8 gpus are folding the 511 pointers.

...wow I never really considered it like that :eeek: I sort of just see the little PPD number in the corner of FAHMon, but when you say it like that I'm pretty sure I'll be folding every single WU from now on

It's easy to lose sight of the real reason we're folding. I'm sure a lot of us have done that, me included.
