Hello all, This is my first build ever and i would have thought it be wise to let you people who have much more experience than me to help me out here. My current computer is 5 years old and one of those pre-made consumer types and im sick of it as im mainly a gamer on the pc and pretty frustrated when i see a game thats come out which have specs wildly out of my current comp's ability to handle so now i want to have a bit of control over my pc. I'll be mainly using the prices from OcUk for reference as i live in Ireland and we don't get decent parts for good prices and ocuk is the only site i currently know of thats close by and ships to Ireland. Thank you in advance for the help, guys Budget: €1200 - €1400 Main uses of intended build: Gaming, internet, college work like microsoft office Parts required: I basically need a whole new build but I have a list of the parts here. Case: Raven RV02 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-065-SV Processor: Intel i5 2500k http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-360-IN&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=1275 Mobo: Asus P8P67 Deluxe http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-433-AS Memory: Im leaning towards Corsair, either the Vengeance or the XMS3, definitely above the 4gb, probably 8gb to 12gb. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-294-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1389 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-290-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517 Cooler: Thermaltake Frio http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-031-TT&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat= GPU: Im leaning more towards the nvidia gtx 570 if i can stretch my budget that far but will consider the gtx 560 when it comes out soon enough, hopefully in the price range of the current 460s http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-112-MS&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1010 Internal Hard Drive: Samsung F3 1TB http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-082-SA PSU: Corsair HX850W http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-019-CS&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat= Optical Drive: LG GH22NS50 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CD-090-LG&groupid=701&catid=10&subcat= OS: Windows 7 Home Thats about it really, maybe an SSD cause i heard newer models were coming out soon, i don't know if all these parts will go together or if there are better parts but most of the parts here have gotten some good reviews. Previous build information (list details of parts): none Monitor resolution: I'll have to get back to you guys on that. Storage requirements: Mainly games, college work, music and movies. will you be overclocking: yes/no (delete as required) Yes Any motherboard requirements (no. of USB, Xfire/SLI, fan headers): A couple of USBs and im good to go Extra information about desired system: I play WoW mostly and would like to try Dawn of War 2, but would like it to be future-proofed for incoming games like Diablo 3 and the Knights of the old republic mmorpg. Thank you again guys
I'd opt for a cheaper case and a cheaper GPU and go grab a SSD as bootdrive in addition. The 570GTX is total overkill actually for WoW, SWTOR or Diablo 3 and even a GTX460 will be more then sufficient to play these games in 1920x1080 at max settings.
If you're going to get the Raven, get the latest revision Comes with more 3.5" slots (hot swapable) and better fans (Silverstone Penetrators). Do you really need the p8p67 delux? I'd go for the Pro. Also, 850W seems high, you could have 750W and should still be able to SLI it later (well, thats what i've been told about my 750hx at least ) With the Memory, get the Vengeance if you can, as it is lower voltage (you shouldn't have an issue with XMS, but you may not be able to use it on another build in the future) Your build is very similar to mine. I'm just waiting on my case (linked above) which hopefully will arrive on wednesday: RV02B-EW p8p67 PRO i5 2500k Frio 8GB XMS3 120gb vertex 2e Asus GTX570 4TB assorted HDDs Corsair HX750
Yeh i was definitely going with the raven because of the air penetrator fans and plus the design of the case suits the colour scheme im going to paint it with. If the gtx 570 is overkill for the games i want to play then i'll settle for either the gtx 460 or gtx 560 if its in the same price range as the 460. Honestly, i have no idea what i need or want for my mobo or my psu, i've just read that i need to get a good psu and have enough wattage so i thought 850w was a reasonable number and that if the psu goes, my whole computer goes lol. The mobo, if the pro version is good enough for my games then i i dont mind at all getting it, i was just lookin at future-proofing it, if this build lasts me 2 - 3 years, i'd be very happy already. Woot! i am getting the vengeance models, thank you very much i was looking for any excuse to get them and now that i have advice from a pro to get them, nothing is holding me back. This SSD, is it worth getting, alot seem to be recommending it, what does it do exactly??? < --- Newb question but sometimes all the computer language thrown at me makes my head hurt
gtx 560 will more than meet your needs, but will probably be around the £200 mark, or so everyone is expecting. +1 for the p8p67 pro. psu this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-018-CS or this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-004-XF ssd will speed up your system no end, faster boot times, faster load times for programms, shutdown, restart pretty much instantly, just makes using your computer that much nicer :]
Okay, just revised my list so that it contains the corsair hx 750w and the asus p8p67 pro and if the gtx 560 is around the 200 mark then i can probably stretch my budget out to an ssd so, any recommendations or are the new ones coming out much better? Thank you all for the advice.
