This is a pic guide on how to make and use a molex pin remover using a 3.5mm MONO from your local electronics store.

This tool only fits female molexs only, but if you can't get the male ones out with a screwdriver, don't look any further.

    First up: get 1 of
    [IMG]

then cut the tip off with side cutters or whatever takes you fancy. The remaining guts should then slide out the inside of the plug.

    You then have
    [IMG]

    align the tool like
    [IMG]

push in and give it a jiggle as you pull slightly on the wire
    [IMG]

    who's your daddy
    [IMG]

go for broke remembering where the wires came from
    [IMG]

then do your stuff, braided sleeving, heatshrink, fluoro, plain, wiring cut to length, joins, whatever.
then just pop the pins back in when your finished.

the pins should still have the tabs slightly stickin out but check to make sure.

this is the best way to remove them.
if you bend them permanently with a screwdriver or something they can break off when you bend em back

here's an one I finished ealier

    cheers,

I did try this thing but I had wrong sort of plug :grr:
    I tryed something else, I used a mini-screwdriver.

The metal in the molex was so thin that I was able to bend the pins in and pull the cable out and when putting it back I just bended the pins out and pulled them in.

I did that on every molex and after 2 or 3 hours I had sleved
    my psu cables

I will post some pics on that in my log later.

    Merry Christmas!

you would only need something just a wee bit longer for the male molex plug wouldnt you? or is it the diam. of the plug thats the prob??

Can it remove both male and female? it might be ok as there only a slightly bit larger diameter wise.

the male plugs are smaller in dia and the tabs are deeper than the female pins.

Here's a tip for male pins from Xplicit at http://www.creativemods.com/forums
"For the male side, take your male molex to the hardware store and ask for a roll pin that will fit and work in exactly the same manner."

I tired this today, it works wonders on about half of my molex connectors, the others I had seem to have a block inside.
(In which case I use a screwdriver)

Anyone got a good way to remove the square modex connectors inside a motherboard power connector?

I have done it with a tiny screw driver, but is smashes many of the connectors.
