I'm trying to follow this: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/1...ation-mobile-for-android-on-any-rooted-device Don't let the 4 steps fool you, there are actually about 30 steps. 30 vague steps. The phone I'm using is a Samsung Galaxy S3 I9305. What I need to do is copy those two files from Step 2, as well as rewrite one somehow. After trying for hours, I need to ask these questions three: 1) I've used Odin to root and get the recovery screen when I hold the buttons in (this one: http://rootgalaxys3iii.com/wp-conte...axy-S3-Android-System-recovery-Mode_thumb.jpg). However, I'm trying to install ClockworkMod. I've used Odin and two different ClockworkMod tar files but still get the same recovery screen, not ClockworkMod. Am I supposed to do something else? Note: I tried to install TWRP instead. I installed the Goo Manager app. As you can expect from an app that promise an easy, automated service, this thing failed to find whatever it was looking for for my model. Dud. 2) Where is the system folder? Connected via USB, I explore the phone's contents on PC but there's no 'system' folder, which is apparently where I have to put the Step 2 files. 3) "Flash the zip from custom recovery, like ClockworkMod or TWRP. This relies on having busybox, which if you're rooted, you likely already do" makes as much sense to me as "Do-wop the zip from shish kebab. This relies on having something you likely already have, which means you won't have it lol". What's the step-by-step for this 'step'?
I don't know enough to actually help, but the guide you've posted is from 2012. Is there anything more up-to-date or any youtube video tutorials available?
The simplest thing would be to do it all from within your phones normal UI. Use ES file manager, give it root access and you can see everything.
Assuming you haven't already, check XDA-developers.com for rooting advice and methods. Only ever played with a tablet and a HTC Sensation but it was root, install CWM from the bootloader, boot to CWDM, install a rooted ROM, go nuts. Busybox is a root availability app (by Stericson iirc), it will allow apps to gain root access. Just about every custom rom ever comes pre-packaged with some kind of root access app, be it Busybox or superSU. Install one, install ES File Manager, move the files around with that like Mucgoo suggested.
I followed this: http://www.cnet.com/uk/how-to/how-to-root-your-samsung-galaxy-s3/ It's the same procedure for installing ClockworkMod according to all the guides, so I've done a couple more like that with ClockwordMod tars, but nothing changes.
It looks like that is for the quadcore version. Is yours the i9305? the us LTE version? Also are you using android 4.3? EDIT: Here is a tool kit. It should work a charm. http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...msung-galaxy-s3-unified-toolkit-v7-0-t1979290
have a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3 xda is the font of all rooting (general advice is do it yourself as you have no idea what a toolkit is doing) if you get stuck just ask
I get the feeling you're not rooted or at least it didn't carry out successfully. Check you're rooted: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck If not then root using CF-Auto Root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/orig-development/gt-i930x-t-n-cf-auto-root-t1957273 I suppose since you're attempting this I don't need to remind you about backing your data up and that there's a slim chance you could brick your device. If the autoroot hasn't already included it: Install SuperSU from the Play Store - not SuperUser https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu&hl=en Update the binary and disable KNOX I don't think CWM Recovery img files are natively flashable by ODIN. Install CWM Recovery using CWM Rom Manager: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager #~-OR-~# Download the CWM Recovery file: http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.7-i9305.img and flash using: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mkrtchyan.recoverytools Then retry your Playstation stuff
