How many people are actually going to buy a $650 program and not just pirate it though? If you're just a hobbyist and don't need professional colour correction and stuff PaintShop Pro will do everything Photoshop will for a fraction of the price, and the Gimp for free. I think PSP is an ideal value, cheap, feature-rich but with a friendly intuititive interface unlike so many open-source apps.

As a professional photographer I am constantly on the lookout for updated softwares to improve my pictures. A friend sometime back suggested the site http://www.stepok.net/eng/index.htm which has uploaded two new softwares. One is Turbo Photo, while the other one is Recomposit. In Turbo Photo, the full control of exposure, color, quality and the problem oriented user interface make it easy for everyone and Recomposit is a photo masking and compositing tool which precisely isolates the image object from its background and merges it with others. The site is a must-visit site for all photographers.:clap:

Ted Forbes - Art of Photography - search through Itunes
    Related flickr group here Clicky

Hardware agnostic - more about the art than the technology - much film related stuff too.
