ref: PM810 SSD changed out for a Samsung 840 EVO (available in 500gb,750,1tb flavours).

Thought this was pretty interesting and ok to post.

SSDs are a whole other experience over standard drives we all know that.

Boot times brought down to 10 seconds or less is magic compared to the past but also how does it go if you have a slightly older SSD like a PM810, and keep every thing the same in a box like mine and benchmark the old and new SSD tech.

Is it worth it to upgrade at the moment?

    These are the numbers.

The read speed upgrade from 245MB sec, to 346MB is the value that jumps out at me then followed by the access time reduction.

The more important question is: Can you feel the difference?

There's something wrong with those benchmarks...

Are you plugged into a proper SATA 3 port?

    +1

Chances are either a AS-Media or Marvell one...

...though i guess it 'could' be rapid improving b/ms on a 3Gb/s one.
