This couldn't really be any more perfect - the RIAA versus one of the most powerfull men in the world. Let's see what happens!

I don't mean to sound like a hippie or an icky commie, but the RIAA can sure be happy they are not a sovereign nation. They'd be done for, they'd be.

 

This Silverman gentleman is high at the wrong time.

 

This is a lose-lose for the RIAA as I see it. If they do press charges, political pressure will be applied on the legal professionals overseeing the case (even if everyone denies it), hampering the RIAA's efforts in this and future cases by setting a precident of lower fines.

OR

If they don't press charges every Tom, Dick and Harry who gets taken to court will use the "well if it's ok for the Bushes...." defence.

 

So, what you're saying is, if I am understanding you correctly, that this is in actual fact a good thing?

Nothing bad could come as a result of this?

I don't see how the $1.8M damages would be justified. It just makes them look like money grabbing ****s.

Speaking of the RIAA sueing rich, powerful people, whatever happened to that case of the self-made millionaire they sued who vowed to fight them all the way?

 

this is insane, but if the RIAA don't sue they will be in a tight space, this will mean that if they don't sue bush then i am not liable to being sued because in that way the law is not for everyone.

 

I believe the RIAA dropped the case, they don't actually want to go to court, that has a chance of setting a precedent that is against them. Much easier to threaten to sue people and settle out of court.

 

Brilliant thing to have happened, but I fear what Bindi said will prove to be all too true.

Somehow I think it might just be very publicly paid in a sign that it's so omgroflcopter wrong and that everyone should be accountable...

Then taxes in the US go up a little to cover it.. what's the use in governing a country when you can't use its money once in a war *ahem* I mean while...
