hi guys, as per the title Im after a new phone and ive seen a deal on mobilephonesdirect 1000 minutes, unlimited texts & 2GB data 4G £30.99 for an Galaxy S5 no upfront cost on EE EE direct is about £5/month more expensive. My question is has anyone used these guys before as they are dirt cheap compared to everyone ive come across so far ?
a lot of their deals seem to be cashback driven so the amount taken from your card each month could be more than £30.99, and then get cashback every few months. Make sure to read any small print first, a quick google search found a few people mentioning this ReviewCenter there's a lot of talk on the net of them having issues delivering the phones to people, sometimes phones not showing up or taking a week or two to arrive, they also seem to have bad aftersales customer service They also have a shop in Southhampton and have some deals on Quidco. Reviews generally seem to be very mixed but if you were ordering from them just be ready incase the worst happens.
yeah dont like cash back options, the deal i saw didnt have that the only thing that concerns me is if i would receive a refurbished phone ? do they have to tell people if it is
Dont think companies are allowed to sell refurbished items as new. I worked for a company that would refurbish TVs, dvd players laptop etc and would grade them, items that were still sealed in the box or that had never been fully opened by customers would always be opened and tested and sold on as A-grade product but it would always be stated that the item was graded, if there was a mark on the product or if the product was faulty and needed replacement parts they would be graded B or C depending on how badly they were marked. So most retailers would state that the product is graded. strange tho that when i look around that site the only mention of refurbishment i can find is in the FAQ which doesn't states which phones are refurbs. Perhaps you could try and call them up and question them on it? if they can't give you a clear answer then i would avoid them, is it really worth all the hassle to save £5 a month? im sure it would be worth paying the extra to get straight from the networks and have better customer service
I'm on a SIM-only deal from them at the moment, cashback involved but not reached the first claim period yet so not much to report.
A bit of feedback to ease your nerves. I have used them twice, the first time I didn't have a cashback option, no problems with delivery or customer service. Second time ( Current contract ) does have cashback on it, they have honoured it every time even when there was a slight confusion with one of the dates, my request got elevated to higher tier support and the cashback was still given, all in all I would rate them, as I say no issues and they are a friendly group of people to deal with.
I placed an order with them on Friday for an LG G3. I couldn't find a better deal anywhere and it doesn't include any cashback renewals, etc. I'm hoping it gets delivered today. Good experience so far with regular email updates.
Phone came yesterday as expected. I didn't get an email with Parcelforce tracking number so had to call them for it but apart from that all is well so far.
i had exactly the same veato but phone was delivered and it was NEW. Oly problem ive had is EE cannot do an internal number transfer so ive had to get a PAYG sim to port my number across to virgin then back again to EE this needs a around 72hrs to complete the whole process so its slightly annoying but does work
A bit late responding to this but I have used them for my current contract. I have a samsung s4 which I bought from them using a groupon deal. My wife got one too. I was a bit concerned but it went through all fine without issue and the phones brand new too.
