I've just done my first full Win 7 install in a while and was shocked at how long the 198 updates took to get and install.
Never mind the fact that it did 32 and then had a meltdown for an hour...

For future use, can the Win 7 updates be downloaded and archived?

I did read about some software that located them on your system and allowed them to be coped, but the site looked quite suspect.

You want the WSUS offline tool. Downloads all the updates for whichever OS you choose and bobs them in a folder.

Thanks guys, I wasn't sure if it was even possible.
The WSUS looks promising noize, I'll give it a go later.

You can then even go as far as slipstreaming the WSUS updates into a Win7 install image.
