Great first post! I'm already jealous before you really started building!

Mind if I ask why you sold the first one?

Looks pretty cool, I'm looking forward to seeing how the CNC comes together.

Any links or tipos on making one of these, you said it's very easy but it doesn't look like it

:D First one i sold it because i need budget to build Plasma CNC 4'x4' or 4'x8' but after sold it i realize that i not ready to build Plasma CNC.

Thank you, Like you said it not easy but for me i drawing every component with actual size using Google SketchUp and then i design it , how it connecting together , how to make it rigid , how many component need , etc..
For how i do it you can see my old work log here DIY CNC by iD2

Note :: Tons of picture and my English not good but only an images will make you understand what i'm doing.

Update just change my mind last minute before drill and assembly it. For Y-Axis i change my design from using aluminum profile 40x40, 40x80mm to 60x60 , 60x60mm it will make much more rigid and no need to drill and tap for connecting rod rail to aluminum profile. Why i'm not use 60x60mm for the first time becase i'm try to make this machine rigid and cheap by reduce unnecessary parts. OK no more talking just see. :D

it will look not change because it same height 120mm

Just got Water cooled spindle + Inverter + Spindle clamp. So today i do wiring and add Potentiometer to Inverter and then test them to make sure everything work fine and correct wiring.

    Item arrive ::

    Unpack the package
    [IMG]

    Start wiring ::

Note :: For single phase power use “R” and “T” but for Three phase power use “R” and “S” , or “S” and “T” , both will work fine.

After finish wiring then test run ::

Note :: Before start run it VFD need to parameter setting.

    - PD005 = 400 (Hz)

    - PD004 = 400 (hz)

    - PD003 = 400 (hz)

    - PD008 = 220 (220volt)

    - PD072 = 400 (hz)

    - PD144 = 3000

This parameter need to set up before start run spindle. Other parameter see document.

After test , It work correctly and everything good so next i need to add potentionmeter to font panel of inverter , it already have socket for putting potentionmeter into it.

    Done !!! lol

    Video test here ::

PS. I can not insert Youtube link , it show big white box ??

I'll be keeping a watch on this. one of my long term wants is to build a small home cnc.

Think you may have linked the video wrong - I took the url out of the page source to watch it but I don't get anything on the actual forum page, just a big white box

I think if you edit the post and just put the code bit from the end of the full YouTube URL within the tags I should work

Sheet he calls that...:worried: Thats a slab my man! You could hit someone to death with that :p

Anyway, I am quite curious about the price of such a setup...I mean I guess the total goes towards the €5-10k or so?

If so, do you sell parts you make on it or just as a somewhat expensive hobby?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not judging! I think we all have the tendency to spend money on things most of our fellow humans would never even consider :dremel:

:D What it call for aluminum like that? (Sorry i'm not good in English).

Cost of this machine total not over 2,000$ for everything and i can make it cheaper by replace table top to use wood if i do that total about 1,800$-1,850$. Now everything was order and i use aluminum profile for my table top but my cost now 1,950$

For this machine i'm build it for do my hobby and will use it to get some money back.

    Don't we all?

You'd be surprised as to how "inexpensive" DYI CNCs can get. Search for 80-20 DYI CNC and marvel at the thousands of different options available.

PS: 80-20 is but one brand of extruded aluminum profiles. There are plenty others out there and, like with everything, for every brand there is an "enthusiast" community. :)

I think he's just messing with you man... We usually think of metal sheet as something in the 1mm to 2mm thickness... Beyond that; we think of them as weapons. :)

As for the DYI CNC. Did you design it yourself? Or did you get the design, parts list from one of the many DYI CNC sites out there? I'm planning on putting one together some time this year (need to buy a lathe first) and the design you have seems to hit every one of my needs...

For this design i design by myself and drawing parts by myself to make sure i got a precision model before putting them together , i drawing parts from datasheet that i get from official site or from supplier.

And this design you see it 9th revise (Only major change that i count if for minor change i think i revise it over than 30 time before get this final design)

Note:: For part you can get from official site they will have CAD drawing with precision model but i use SketchUp , it faster for me if i drawing it by myself.

I have a feeling this is going to be awesome project! Btw love how you matched the SSD drives by brand to your color options. ;)

    Awesome.
For the people interested in doing something similar, please add as many brand names, model numbers, and links as possible.

-On your design: If you put the Y axis screws on the side of the table, you get more clearance.:D
